And one of the best things about card making is that it doesn’t have to be expensive; you can use a myriad of items you already have from around your house and still magic up a stunning creation. 1 LESS IS MORE Your card doesn’t have to be packed with detail – sometimes keeping the design simple can be more effective than a card that’s overloaded with numerous craft skills, put there solely to show off your talent! Your recipient will be thrilled – and impressed – by any handmade creation. Well, it’s time to be a big kid again and get creatively messy. Simple, but fun, designs that have that child-like charm about them are notoriously popular, so give it a go! Potato prints and fruit or pasta shapes are also a great style of card for letting your own kids get involved in the creative process. 3 FORGET EQUIPMENT Don’t feel that you always need a host of special equipment to make a beautiful card – you don’t! Yes, you’ll need a few basics – the cards, glue, some craft paper – but for some designs, you might not even need a pair of scissors. Instead, you can simply tear the paper. It gives it a great, authentic look. 4 TAKE INSPIRATION FROM TRENDS If you’re stuck for ideas, look around you at what’s current in the world of home interiors, fashion or beauty.
