What alternative funding
channels are available if
my bank can't help?
A recent survey found that more than half of SMEs in the UK don't think British
banks are 'business' friendly, so this is a very relevant question, as it's believed
that many small businesses still aren't aware of the alternative funding channels
available to them.

The alternative finance industry is predominantly made up of specialist lenders,
peer-to-peer lending and crowdfunding schemes currently, although it's not
limited to these.

If your mainstream lender or bank can't provide you with the finance that you
require, or can't act quickly enough for you, it's not the end of the road. The term
'alternative finance' is essentially the collective name for the many avenues
available for raising finance other than the traditional high street bank. Alternative
finance in its various forms was recently described by one leading economist as
'changing the landscape' of the finance industry, which is certainly true.
