InBroadcast: How is your company changing to meet client demands? Chris Smeeton: We are constantly monitoring and adjusting our product portfolio to reﬂect the needs of our customers. It is a delicate balancing act to ensure our inventory is at a suitable level to support any on-going customer projects while recognising market trends in upcoming areas of interest and developments. Our on-going projects have also led us into new product developments and opportunities. One such development has been our recent investment in the assembly team which enables us to offer an in-house assembly service to allow customers to purchase pre-terminated cables from a wiring schedule. We can extend this service to make up a myriad of termination panels including CAT5 and CAT6, XLR, BNC and ﬁbre, plus composite panels fabricated using connectors from the ever popular Neutrik range. As an international company Argosy is always monitoring market opportunities in other parts of the world to ensure that we can put the necessary investment in place early enough to effectively support our business in the local geographies. InB: What criteria does the market use to make buying decisions for your products/services? CS: Many of the recent buying decisions in our sector have tended to come from system upgrades – namely those broadcasters looking to migrate from SD to HD and 3G. This will no doubt continue in the coming months and years as broadcasters seek to improve their workﬂows and ensure further commercial efficiencies are achieved across their broadcast operations.

InB: Which territories are showing particular activity? CS: 2011/2012 has been a busy time for the UK broadcast market with many large projects underway at the same time – particularly in the OB and studio markets as broadcasters prepare for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the 2012 London Games. The Middle East and India continue to show growth as there is a proliferation of news and entertainment channels in these territories where infrastructure products are needed at the heart of their business. There are still growth opportunities in regions that have yet to deliver HD to consumers and we are always keen to support customers in those markets. InB: Any innovations ahead that you can discuss? CS: We are currently developing some own brand products that will enhance our already comprehensive portfolio to further help support our customers’ needs, particularly in relation to ﬁbre connectivity. Some of these products will be coming on stream over the coming months in the lead up to IBC and will provide customers with broader options going forward. InB: Give some examples of your products/technology/services in action? CS: We have a number of customer installations all over the world where Argosy’s infrastructure solutions are truly a critical component of the broadcast operation. Whether it is our best-in-class cables, BNCs, patch panels or other infrastructure products, our solutions ensure that no part of the system is compromised. Examples of some installations around the world include Dish TV in India, Sky News Arabia in the UAE and MTV Europe, Presteigne and Viasat Broadcasting in the UK.
