EpicTV Powers Streaming Service
GBR: Finnish telecommunications company, EpicTV, has announced that it has selected Tvinci, the Pay-OTT platform provider, to power its pan-European service for multiple connected devices. EpicTV provides a destination for an audience interested in adventure sports. The deployment of Tvinci’s PayOTT platform for EpicTV enables the delivery of a personalised, consistent viewing experience across iPad, Android, PC and connected TV, the latter powered by Tvinci’s partner Accedo.

Football Double For I-Movix Sprintcam
SIS Live, working with ITV Sport, took two I-Movix Sprintcams to Bucharest, Romania, to add Ultra Motion replay facilities to the Europa League ﬁnals. Since the I-Movix Sprintcam appeared in the UK, ITV Sport have been keen to use either one or two cameras on their major football events, dependent upon budget. In Bucharest, cameraman Ben Seaman operated one of the cameras set up in the 55,600 seat National Arena: “These cameras are a joy to operate and the images provided stole the show…this technology has certainly moved on over the past couple of years. We managed to shoot up to 450 fps on this job. Until the Sprintcam came along, Hi-Mo would simply not have been even thought of for evening matches.” For the second season running ESPN have also used the I-Movix Sprintcam Vvs to shoot FA Cup promotional material at the FA Cup ﬁnal. The versatile Vvs system provided dual outputs such that the promo producer was able to clip and store replays at varying shooting speeds. At the same time, the main OB truck – provided by leading OB facilities supplier SIS Live – had an EVS server recording the replay output such that the Ultra Motion images could be used in the live programme for analysis and montage purposes. Editec supplied on-site support for the event, assisting with installation and technical familiarisation.

Broadcast Sports Kentucky Derby
USA: Broadcast Sports, Inc (BSI) played a critical role in NBC’s live broadcast of the 138th Kentucky Derby in Louisville. BSI provided the RF infrastructure and wireless technology for NBC to extend their coverage beyond the track and grandstands into the furthest corners of Churchill Downs. BSI deployed their Intelligent Diversity Distributed Receive System using multiple RF over fibre receive sites. The system supported wireless control and signal reception for cameras and microphones.

SNY, the ofﬁcial television home of the New York Mets, Jets and the Big East Conference has added Ross Video’s Vision MultiDeﬁnition Production Switcher for their productions. Rebuilding their control room in 2011, SNY went with Ross’ Vision 1.5 QMD as their switcher of choice due to ﬂexibility and customer support. SNY’s programming roster includes exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, Jets and the Big East Conference - as well as classic sports programming, critically acclaimed original entertainment shows and exclusive interview and magazine programmes. “Ross’ Vision switcher was the right tool for the job,” said Alex Blanding, Senior Director of Engineering at SNY. “It was cost effective choice that is designed in a way that we can expand at a later date. These were both big factors in our decision to go with Ross.” “We are delighted to have SNY join the growing list of customers in the NYC Metro area,” said David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. “Our success can be attributed not only to our reliable switcher, but also because of the dedicated staff we have for our NYC customers. Sonnet Signs blitz micro
ITA: Sonnet Technologies has signed a new partnership agreement with Italy-based blitz micro to distribute Sonnet’s complete line of storage devices, media readers, and Thunderbolt expansion solutions to broadcast and video production customers. Concentrating on the Apple and ITC market, blitz micro will offer complete sales and technical support for Sonnet products.
