Video Writer Shows Form
GBR: FOR-A has delivered an FVW-500HS video writer to the London-based TV graphics specialists, Moov TV. It has already been put through its paces during the live TV production at major horseracing events such as the Welsh National at Chepstow, the Grand National at Aintree, and the Epsom Derby. At Royal Ascot two FVW500HS video writers will be used. One will be in the BBC scanner and the other in the weighing room where a commentator will stand in front of a large touch-screen.

TF1 Turns To Orad 3DPlay
French broadcaster TF1 has implemented Orad’s 3DPlay channel branding solution across all of its channels. The new Orad graphics installation, which consists of four Orad 3DPlay systems, provides TF1 with a much more ﬂexible onair graphics production workﬂow. “With its many advantages in broadcasting as well as in production, the Orad 3DPlay solution will last us for quite some time,” says Olivier Dusautoir, TF1’s Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Networks. “Operators can now play video content with the graphical overlay using the preview mode, before it is aired. ProMedia Xpress Optimises VOD
USA: The release of the ProMedia Xpress high-performance ﬁle-based transcoder, marks the latest addition to Harmonic’s ProMedia family. These software and appliance solutions are engineered to optimise video production workflows for high-volume multiscreen VOD applications. ProMedia Xpress uses Harmonic’s H.264 codec technology to deliver excellent video quality without impeding transcoding speeds. Harmonic claim signiﬁcant speed increase gains.

KWES-TV Goes HD With Utah
10 West Texas NBC afﬁliate KWES-TV has upgraded to digital HD with Utah Scientiﬁc equipment. The installation is part of a groupwide upgrade for owner Drewry Communications Group, which has standardised all of its facilities on Utah Scientiﬁc. The Midland, Texas-based station now relies on Utah Scientiﬁc equipment for master control, production control, and HD routing and distribution in its 24/7 operation. The new equipment allows KWES to produce local programming in HD; insert HD logos, squeeze backs, and legal IDs; and more things the station could not do with its old setup. The Utah Scientiﬁc equipment also supports embedded audio, which takes the burden of balancing audio and video from the master control operator, enabling the operator to focus on other parts of the production. Kevin Southern, KWES Director of Engineering, said: “Getting off the old analogue equipment and upconverters and getting onto HD routing and distribution has made a signiﬁcant difference in quality. Matrox Ships CS6 Drivers
CAN: Matrox has released its latest support drivers for Adobe CS6 Production Premium software and Adobe Mercury Transmit with the Matrox MXO2 family of I/O devices and the Matrox Mojito MAX I/O card. MXO2 devices provide crossplatform Mac and Windows support and, via Thunderbolt, PCIe, or ExpressCard/34. Release 7.0 for Matrox MXO2 I/O devices and Mojito MAX for Windows and release 3.1 for Mac OS are now available.
