FireMagic FireMaker ScoopS MarketiNg award Fuels’ FireMagic FireMaker won the Marketing Innovation award at the All-Ireland Marketing Awards in May, beating stiff competition from Aviva, H.J. Heinz Ireland, Irish life Corporate Business and Supervalu. The first of its kind in Ireland, FireMagic FireMaker is kerosene-free and a key addition to our eco-friendly fuel range. It is economical to use as it is a clean and convenient substitute to kindling, paper and sticks. For consumers, this product takes the hassle out of making real fires from scratch. The award is a testament to the innovation at the core of all activity in Bord na Móna. New project beiNg rolled out by it The IT department is delighted that the Client Standardisation Project rollout is set to be complete by the end of July. The benefits brought about by this extensive project include streamlined support, security, a central administration and compliance with internal and external audit requirements. With the consistency of platforms and applications set, IT can provide a better level of support to the end user. Additionally, increased protection from security threats - theft, error and virus attacks – is available. The project has also increased protection of business data by central network storage, data back-up and encryption of data on laptops and mobile devices. The Engineering Department operates across the Group. Some of the current challenges include managing a contract with Shell to receive peat from the Corrib On-Shore Pipeline into the Srahmore Peat Facility in Mayo; constructing new landfill phases for Resource Recovery at Drehid; and designing and overseeing the construction of flood defences to protect peatlands from high water levels in the Shannon. Other challenges include devising and supporting the refurbishment of Feedstock’s extensive rail network; managing the emergency refurbishment of the Ballivor Horticulture facility following recent fire damage; designing and constructing additional infrastructure to expand biomass storage capacity at Edenderry Power Station; working with Feedstock to devise a new approach to Asset Management and Asset maintenance; and sourcing and providing retrofit designs for replacement locomotive engines that meet Tier 3 emission requirements. AES targets PharmaChem sector AES has formed partnership arrangements with hazardous waste management service providers to focus on the important PharmaChem sector. Recent account wins at Element 6, Shannon (formerly De Beers Industrial Diamonds) and Abbott Healthcare have increased our profile in the sector. We are currently competing for Pfizer/Wyeth’s nationwide general waste business. Becoming service providers to some or all of Pfizer/ Wyeth’s seven facilities would announce AES’s arrival in the sector. 4 | Source Summer 2011
