West Offaly Power is on extended outage in order to replace corroded boiler tubes. littleton and Derrinlough briquette factories are currently on extended outages due to the current high levels of briquette stocks. lough Ree power is running well and is ahead of target. vital refurbishment work on the rail network and transport fleet is currently progressing. Work is also nearing completion in Blackwater on expanded flood defences in areas along the River Shannon. Supply of biomass to Edenderry Power currently stands at 36,000 tonnes and we are well on target to supply the planned 150,000 tonnes of carbon-neutral material by the end of the financial year. Mixed BaG For horticulture The early season began very well for Horticulture but, due to the bad weather in May, sales were hampered towards the end of the spring season. Growise’s sponsorship of Bloom 2011 was a good opportunity for Horticulture to interact with end-users of the Growise range. With 90,000 visitors to Bloom this year, Growise gained further exposure and interest from consumers. In addition, the Growise sponsorship of the RTÉ One show, Super Garden, was a success for Growise, with high ratings recorded once again this year. wiNNiNg gardeN Supported by growiSe Paul Martin, the renowned Irish garden designer, has scooped a gold medal for his “vestra Wealth Grays” garden at the prestigious RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in the UK. The garden draws its inspiration from the life’s work of Eileen Gray, the early twentieth century Irish furniture designer and design icon. The garden has a number of features inspired by Eileen Gray’s wonderful legacy of Art Deco design and Bord na Móna supplied eight tonnes of Growise to construct the garden. peak productioN at FeedStock Feedstock had an exceptional performance in 2010/11. A very good production achievement (132%), higher than planned sales, elimination of quality penalties, and vigorous focus on cost control contributed to this performance. Peat production in Feedstock currently stands at 58% of target, which is broadly in line with budget for this stage in the season. low rainfall during April and May led to very dry bog conditions and production started during the last week of April. A very good production was hampered by persistent high winds and the outbreak of fires in many bog areas. Production continued in early June but on the whole, June was a poor peat production period. eirGrid contract For cushalinG power Cushaling Power peaking plant has secured a significant Ancillary Services contract from EirGrid. This contract, which includes a “Black Start” element, is providing significant additional revenues to the business and has been secured as a result of the technical capabilities of the units. These capabilities formed a critical element of the technical and commercial evaluation carried out by the PowerGen team prior to selecting the technology for Cushaling Power. They have been required by the System Operator and the plant has delivered these services when required. www.bordnamona.ie Source | 7 buSiNeSS rouNd-up Feedstock update Growise stand at Bloom. http://www.bordnamona.ie
