Aside from the courses on offer, our universities and colleges also provide innovation and a knowledge base for businesses to draw on. With employers in many industry sectors asking where the next generation of skilled technicians and managers will come from, our higher education providers are embracing a new era of collaboration, not only with each other but with local authorities and the private sector. Traditionally seen as the preserve of well-heeled members of the corporate elite, the MBA degree is still regarded as a valuable passport into the boardroom. MBA graduates find themselves at a distinct advantage when it comes to being hired. Figures from the Graduate Management Admission Council show that 74 per cent of employers planned to take on candidates with MBAs in 2012 – up from 58 per cent last year. In Yorkshire, education providers offer full and part-time MBAs, with costs broadly ranging from £11,000 to £20,000. The majority of full-time students are from outside the UK, especially from the emerging economic powerhouses of China and India.
