Leveraging Internet TV As A Service
To Maximise TV Everywhere

UX, a Miami-based provider of
SaaS OTT and Pay-TV services,

TV, Internet TV-as-a-Service (iTaaS).
iTaaS is a comprehensive suite of
services, which enable operators
across the globe to easily build,
deploy and manage a variety of
video products - it's truly end-to-end
and encompasses all major areas of
functionality necessary to deploy a
top-tier video product.
The demand for OTT video services
amongst consumers is expected to
more than triple over the coming
three years, mostly due to the
availability and ubiquity of mobile
bandwidth and consumer devices.
IHS is estimating that there will
be over eight billion addressable
TV screens in 2017, the majority
of which will be mobile phones,
tablets and other portable devices.
UUX aims to meet that demand by
enabling operators to quickly adapt
and compete for those consumers
through an OPEX-based model.
Our services focus on taking care
of the heavy lifting of processing
video content, content security and
the disparity of CE devices allowing
our customers to focus on delivering
high-value, and price-competitive
products to their users.
A Pay-OTTV marketplace is
emerging, where traditional PayTV models are moving to an OTT
delivery model, and UUX is on the
leading edge of this transformation.
Core services to iTaaS include:
Live, Catch-Up, Cloud DVR and
VOD, consumer applications,
personalisation and management
amongst many more. Consumers
expect these as well as a constantly
evolving and innovative pipeline
of new ways to interact with their
favourite content.
UUX was formed as the result
of a strategic merger between
Totalmovie, specialists in the creation
of user interfaces for Internet TV
services, and OTT Networks, a
developer of best-in-class media
distribution software. By combining
the technical expertise and deep
industry knowledge of both of
these innovative companies, UUX
is able to offer truly world-leading

next generation media distribution
solutions and platforms, which can
be deployed as part of an operator's
infrastructure or as a turn-key endto-end solution for delivering live TV,
catch-up TV and VOD content to IP
connected devices.
The aim in developing the UUX
Internet-TV as-a-Service platform
(iTaaS) was to provide network
operators worldwide with a whitelabelled solution, responsive to the
needs of each individual customer
base, irrespective of region. A
particular strength of an iTaaS
platform is that it's truly universal - it is
ideally suited to developing markets
where carrier payment is the norm.
For example, the Latin American OTT
market has enormous potential for
growth - an October 2013 report
from Dataxis predicted that Latin
America's OTT subscriptions would
reach 6.9% of the region's Pay-TV
business, growing to almost 3.6
million by the end of 2013.
There is clearly an appetite
for OTT in the region, yet Netﬂix,
despite major success elsewhere,
has struggled to gain a foothold
in Latin America; this is due to a
billing environment which is distinctly
different to that of Europe and
North America. Credit card usage
levels are much lower in the region
- subscribers predominantly use
smartphones to access the internet
and online content, and cannot use
the same subscription methods as
those in other regions with a more
developed broadband infrastructure.
Additional services are often
bundled with phone contracts, and
mobile network operators in regions
such as Latin America do not always
have the experience necessary for
managing video content or dealing
with content owners - the result of
this is that subscribers are missing
out on exciting new services,
particularly video.

offer mobile network operators a
fully agnostic, market ready solution

that meets the challenges of markets
where the broadband infrastructure
is not yet as developed. With an
end-to-end platform, speciﬁcally
optimised for mobile billing, the
mobile network operator is able to
utilise the existing billing system.
Crucially, a white-labelled iTaaS
platform also provides the operator
with its own branded service which
can be brought very swiftly to market.
In the case of Telenor Hungary, UUX's
ﬁrst customer in Europe, UUX was
able to implement the company's new
MyTV service, built on UUX's iTaaS
platform, to provide its customers

with live and catch-up television VOD
content across all Internet connected
devices and screens.
The roll-out was accomplished in
less than 90 days, demonstrating
the time-to-market that can be
achieved when implementing UUX's
iTaaS platform.
We are seeing a revolution in TV,
primarily due to the seismic shift
that is affecting traditional broadcast
methods - UUX are focused on
enabling the next generation of TV
everywhere, providing the ultimate
in user experience.
