The flagship New York Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge offers pasta, meats and burgers, alongside more adventurous Marco-inspired meals such as rib-eye steak alla Romana with snails and garlic butter. The emphasis is on serving the best of British seafood in large portions, simply cooked. Head chef, Matt Brown, has revamped the menu to include traditional dishes such as gravlax, fish pie and oysters, and there are now a few meat options, including steak and roast rump of lamb, to keep the carnivores happy. The menu is modern French classical and includes locally sourced ingredients. As well as the menu of the day (£25 for lunch, £35 for dinner), the Menu Gourmande features dishes such as papillotte of squab pigeon or hot apricot soufflé. As part of the Wheeler’s of St James’s stable, it offers restaurant-style food in a relaxed pub atmosphere. On the menu are traditional British dishes, such as fried haddock and triple-cooked chips and 10oz rib-eye steaks with a choice of sauces. Two courses and a bottle of house wine will cost you just over £40, plus the service charge.
