ANY PORT IN A STORM
T
his may be the
only time of year
when the decanter
comes out, so why
not put something
wonderful in it?
Indeed, there's little
to beat a warming glass of Port,
the fortified wine of Portugal's
Douro Valley, and I love nothing
more than putting my feet up in
front of the fire and savouring
its stunning flavours.

Quinta do Noval 10
Year Old Tawny Port
(Waitrose, £21.99)
Noval is one of
my favourite Port
producers and I'm
particularly fond of
their classy 10 Year
Old Tawny. I love its
flavours of crystallised
figs and oranges,
Brazil nuts and raisins, with
just a spoonful of muscovado
sugar stirred into the mix.
❋ Goes nicely with... Cheddar,
banoffee pie or trifle
