A Focus on Homelessness T he alleviation of homelessness was the second of the two areas selected by staff for corporate responsibility focus. Since then we have worked with organisations throughout the country, providing both financial and practical support for a wide range of programmes and projects. The newly established Energy for Generations Fund will continue to treat homelessness as a priority area for funding. E R NE GY FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION GENERATIO NS FU ND ALLEVIATION OF HOMELESSNESS ESB CORPORATE REPONSIBILITY FOCUS POINTS EDUCATION SUSTAINABLE POSITIVE OUTCOMES CASE STUDY: MID WEST SIMON COMMUNITY, LIMERICK ESB funding helped to set up a rolling minibank to provide homeless people with a way to develop independent living. CASE STUDY: THE GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE, KILKENNY ESB has supported repairs and development of the hostel accommodation, work on laundry equipment and the heating system, and supported the development of new accommodation for transitional living. CASE STUDY: PETER MCVERRY TRUST, DUBLIN ESB has supported detoxification and drug stabilisation programmes for young homeless people, funded transport and furniture for their "Under-18" service, and also construction and accommodation conversion projects.
