The reality is that many of our power stations are located in areas of pretty impressive scenery. The thousands who have visited Turlough Hill since it opened to the public in early June have absolutely amazed us both by their numbers and the huge interest. Visitors have travelled from both abroad and all parts of Ireland to see this feat of engineering situated in the Wicklow Mountains. Aside from the two Open Weekends, tour groups were running at about 50 per guide (with four guides employed over the summer) and by the end of July the tour bookings online were completely booked up to the end of September (when the facility closes to visitors), while requests to visit were still coming in at about 100 emails/phone calls per day. It has proved a huge success story for Turlough Hill and ESB overall. Well done to the guides, staff and volunteers who looked after everyone so well over this period when work at the station had to continue as normal. You certainly did ESB proud.
