CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE B BORD NA MÓNA’S CLEAN ENERGY HUB PROJECT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A SIGNIFICANT SUPPLIER OF RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY BEYOND IRISH BORDERS, IN LINE WITH IRISH AND UK GOVERNMENT POLICY 10 | Source Spring 2013 ord na Móna is in an ideal place to benefit from the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on renewable energy between the Irish and British governments. The MOU was signed by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte TD, and UK Energy Minister Ed Davey MP. It will put in place a framework to allow the export of renewable energy, mainly wind energy, from Ireland to the UK. This follows on from the British government’s publication in 2012 of draft energy legislation, which will allow electricity imports into the UK as part of its revised energy strategy to 2020.
