SPRING 2020 Vincent Bugg STORE MANAGER, CENTRAL LONDON Vincent started work for Levi's in 2014, following a career as a dancer. How do you feel that Levi Strauss is promoting equality? We are now marching in LGBTQI+ parades around the globe and the visuals of our in-store campaigns are more ethnically diverse than ever. My team is extremely diverse; as a young gay black man it's something I stand for. How important is diversity and inclusion to the success of LSCO? Levi's original values are originality, integrity, empathy and courage, and I believe all minority groups - be they queer, black, female etc - also have these values at their heart. Which diversity programmers at LSCO have benefited you? Last November's Diversity & Inclusion Day, held by Vanessa Belleau, was great. Several people were asked to share and I was asked to discuss how it is to be a young black man in today's society. I feel it was extremely educational to a lot of people within our brand. Have you had any particular training in D&I? At the above training day we held open forums discussing different areas of D&I and how to deal with inclusion for all - having a safe space to discuss openly is always a benefit for those who are in need of education. I feel this gave me the room to voice myself fully and actually have people listen. JC Spring 2020 Levi Strauss F.indd 119 18/05/2020 16:22
