In this issue we are highlighting our sponsorship of ESB Tree Week which runs from March 1st - 7th. This is a tremendous initiative in which all of our colleagues throughout ESB can become involved. Suggestions on how we can take part range from, not just planting trees, but visiting local woodlands, learning more about the trees around us, inviting our families to go on a woodland walk or joining in some of the activities around the week which might be taking place in our local areas. For those of you who may be keen gardeners, involved in Tidy Town initiatives in your local areas, or have an in-depth knowledge of native trees - you might like to take the lead in your own community by either getting involved in some initiative or even giving a talk to a local school or group. Certainly within G&WM and ESB Networks a large number of staff would be familiar with planting, pruning etc. and the work ESB is involved in so we are sure there is a sizeable number of colleagues out there who will get involved. Watch out for more information in this issue of EM and on ESBNet, Twitter, Yammer etc. in the coming weeks. For more information, keep an eye on ESBNET where training schedule details will be announced. LIVING WELL with Dementia is a three year community-based project supporting people with dementia in the Stillorgan/Mount Merrion/ Blackrock area to participate in their community and pursue lifelong interests. Our three-year project, which commenced in 2012, is jointly funded by Atlantic Philanthropies and the HSE and supported by Genio. We are appealing for both male and female volunteers to support our activities by becoming a befriender with the Living Well with Dementia Project. This may involve visiting someone in their home or accompanying them in their daily activities such as shopping, gardening, mass, golf, visits to the library, or providing transport to our local activity groups. n The benefits of volunteering can be enormous to you and your community and our volunteers are an essential asset to our programme.
