Extensive support was provided by the technical specialists in G&WM Asset Management and ESB International Generation Engineering in dealing with these issues. The plant returned to commercial operation on July 24th – 40 days from shutdown. While the additional time and cost associated with the as-found defects was disappointing, the effort required to overcome the challenges and During the inspections a number of significant as founds were discovered: • Insufficient GT Generator wedge tightness – recommendation was a complete rewedge of the stator requiring the removal of the rotor. • ST valves had extensive cracking on sealing faces and other steam damage to diffusers and valve parts that required repair and parts to be expedited • ST Generator busbar, a known issue was site repaired but subsequently failed electrical testing and was removed to Austria for factory repair.
