ONLINE STORE Product Review

CLIMOTE

WE BOUGHT OUR first house in August 2012 and it needed a lot of cosmetic work, including a new time switch and thermostat for our gas heating. The ones that were installed in the house were outdated and the timer didn't work at all. Our surveyor advised us to replace these as soon as possible in order to bring the house up to a liveable standard.

I had read about Climote on the ESB intranet site, and the fact that we could pay via instalments on our bill suited us. The Climote Road Show came to the Wilton offices and I was able to see a full demonstration and ask questions.

Our Climote system was installed in January following an email from the installer to arrange an appointment. We both work full-time and it was so helpful that our installer agreed to come to my house at 7am to install. He was really helpful and talked us through all the functions of Climote.

We have used Climote almost every day since it was installed. Our work schedules vary every week so we text when we are on our way home in order to ensure the house is warm when we get there. It then sends a text back to confirm and we can also view the current temperature in the house. I really enjoy the control we have over our heating now. We can text Climote to turn our heating on or off. The heating is being used less in the house now and we're saving money.

We are also using it to control our hot water. We have not used our immersion since Climote was installed and there is now no fear of ever leaving the water on when we are out of the house. We can just text Climote to turn off the water heating if we need to. I would certainly recommend Climote to anyone and have been since telling all my friends and family about it since it was installed.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT is a fundrais-ing walk in aid of Pieta House, the suicide and self-harm crisis centre. The walk, now in its fifth year, took place in 20 locations nationwide on Saturday May 11th. Darkness into Light is a unique event which began at 4am as thousands of people gathered in the darkness at locations across Ireland and walked or ran the 5km route as dawn was breaking. In 2012, 14,000 people participated in the walk in 14 locations nationwide. This year a record number of 40,000 people participated in the walk in 20 locations nationwide.

For two weeks, an Electric Ireland representatives visited the 20 locations the walk was taking place in with Joan Freeman, CEO of Pieta House to launch the event.

Electric Ireland also supported this with a bill insert which reached 1.3 million homes and a two-week radio and outdoor campaign. The purpose of this was to raise awareness and encourage people to participate in the walk for 2013.

THE ABBEY THEATRE, Ireland's national theatre, was founded by W. B. Yeats and Lady Augusta Gregory in 1904 to “bring upon the stage the deeper thoughts and emotions of Ireland”. Since it first opened its doors, the Abbey Theatre has played a vital and often controversial role in the literary, social and cultural life of Ireland.

Over the years, the Abbey Theatre has nurtured and premiered the work of major playwrights such as J. M. Synge and Sean O'Casey, as well as contemporary classics from the likes of Sebastian Barry, Marina Carr, Bernard Farrell, Brian Friel, Frank McGuinness, Thomas Kilroy, Tom Mac Intyre, Tom Murphy, Mark O'Rowe, Billy Roche and Sam Shepard. We continue to support new Irish writing at the Abbey through our commissioning process and our New Playwrights programme.

The Abbey produces an annual programme of diverse, engaging, innovative Irish and international theatre and invests in and promotes new Irish writers and artists.
