Local Staff showcase ESB at its best

85 YEARS

Local staff at Ardnacrusha put in a tremendous effort to have the station looking its best for the event. Staff got involved in cleaning, tidying and landscaping at the station with the grounds looking amazing on what turned out to be a wonderful sunny day. Catering was provided by Marguerite Clohessy and her team from Inniscarra and the local canteen staff, Mary Mackessy and Caroline Collins. From security, to guide duty, parking attendants, hospitality and the logistics involved in holding such a high profile event, staff gave of their best and this was noted by everyone who attended.

Flowers and other items especially required for the day were donated to Milford Hospice later on that evening.

The archival display, background information and organising of portrait for presentation was carried out by ESB Archives team of Brendan Delany, Pat Yeates and Gerry Hampson. ESB Corporate Communications and Public Affairs were responsible for publicity and overall co-ordination of the event. Nationwide carried a feature on the night previous to the event on RTE while both RTE and TV3 carried coverage of the day. There was wide publicity in the print media of the occasion. The Taoiseach, former Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave, Ministers, Elected Representatives, Distinguished guests and ESB Chairman and Chief Executive, together with other ESB senior management, were high in their praise of the efforts of everyone concerned. Well done to all.
