EDT visits ESB Electric Ireland
The Chief Executive and the Executive Director Team visited ESB Electric Ireland’s headquarters in Swift Square, Northwood Business Park, Santry on the 29th September. While there, the EDT took the opportunity to meet as many of the staff as possible.
During their tour of the premises, the EDT were particularly interested in the operation of the new centralised printing, recycling management and solar water heating facilities which have been a great success.
Liam Molloy, General Manager Electric Ireland, gave a business update to the visitors and to Electric Ireland staff. Liam outlined some of the initiatives which have been launched recently:
- A number of major Northern Ireland market announcements were made in September. The Business Markets team, headed by Susan Kinane, has entered the NI business gas market while the Residential Markets team, headed by Adrian Kelly, will enter the residential market in October on a pilot basis.
- At a recent launch in SPORTSCO, the Chief Executive announced that ESB Electric Ireland will be an official sponsor of Team Ireland for the London 2012 Olympics. This high profile sponsorship is a great achievement for Ken McKervey, Commercial Manager and his team.
- Energy Services Manager, Brian Dowd, and his team will launch Electric Ireland’s new Gas Boiler Servicing business on 3rd October with a very competitive price offer.
The Chief Executive congratulated the staff on taking on the many changes that were required to facilitate the launch of Electric Ireland. “When we started the project to get where we are today it was a difficult time. Our market share was eroded and we were not in a position to respond. While we were in that transition you used the time well to prepare yourselves and get ready for the launch. You have taken on a new brand and positioned us as a premier company – getting into the residential gas market, retailing in Northern Ireland and offering new services. You are what people see about ESB and what you do presents ESB in a very positive light. There is now a great buzz about the front end of the business.”
The staff in turn were delighted to showcase their work to the Chief Executive and the EDT during their visit.
