Give your health a kick start for 2011 Health & Habitat, page 33 29 an InFORMaTIOn card for anybody in Mayo who may be looking for contact details of services that can provide them with personal support at difficult times in their lives has been launched by the Family Centre in Castlebar “We often find that in a crisis or at a particularly difficult time many people do not know the range of services that are available or how they might go about getting access to these services. We hope this card will help in these situations,” said Máire ní Dhomhnaill, Counsellor with the Family Centre. The contact card draws together contact telephone numbers for a range of different services many of which are local to Co. Mayo but some are also outside the county. These services vary from ‘accident and emergency services’ to ‘Mental health and Counselling’ services. some of the services are available on a 24 hour basis while others are available by appointment. This pocket sized card is being widely distributed in the county. Individuals or organizations can also receive a number of cards, free of charge, by contacting the Family Centre. The Initiative is being provided with funding from the esb electricaid organization. The card has already been distributed through the hse and services such as the Gardaí. n Anybody wanting to order cards can contact the Family Centre, Chapel St., Castlebar at 094 90 25900. SPORTSCO awards success 2010 has been extremely busy for sPORTsCO staff working towards a number of Quality awards to ensure they retain their place as one of the leading leisure facilities in the country. The economic downturn has changed people’s perspective on value for money and this has ensured people use their club membership as much as possible to obtain greater value for money. Despite higher member usage, sPORTsCO has succeeded in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. These levels are monitored through a number of performance indicators including regular member feedback surveys on customer service and satisfaction. The Leisure Industry has been badly affected by the recent economic downturn and Leisure Centres all over the Country are struggling to maintain their membership base in order to survive. sPORTsCO is no exception and we believe in differentiating ourselves through excellent customer service, value for money and state of the art facilities. ‘high Quality standards are imperative in consistently delivering customer satisfaction and these standards and our ability to address the current climate has attributed to our success to date’ says Lorna brady, General Manager. ILaM, The Industry body for sports, Fitness, aquatic Facilities, Outdoor and spas & Wellness have recently awarded sPORTsCO the prestigious ‘White Flag’ accreditation. sPORTsCO were also honoured to receive a ‘10 year recipient award’. The standard ensures all facilities are compatible with best Industry practice including properly qualified staff and highest hygiene and safety standards. Measurement Criteria include categories under management, facility/ site and activity areas. sPORTsCO were proud to achieve an outstanding overall score of 94% with zero non-conformances. In addition to the White Flag award, sPORTsCO was also the proud recipient a specialist ‘silver award for Disability Provision’ and one of only 16 facilities in the country. This enables sPORTsCO to offer facilities to all sections of the community. a special thanks must be given to Ciaran Gogarty, esb access officer, for his help and support in gaining this achievement. sPORTsCO has also succeeded in achieving the Q-Mark in Quality Management systems for the seventh time.
