Early indications demonstrate the potential for this project to deliver a significant return on organisational investments”. n Hello and EM. welcome to the Christmas edition of This is often the time of year for reflection, for looking back at the happenings of the year and how, for better or worse, we have fared through it all. Many of us have colleagues, as well as family and friends, who have been touched by serious tragedies or illnesses. Most of us know friends or relations who are struggling with finances and trying to keep their homes together. however, through it all and the many stories of despair, there is as always in times like these, many wonderful stories where friends, neighbours, colleagues and groups have been doing amazing work in a voluntary capacity to help people through some of the darkest moments in their lives. The recent roadshow hosted by EsB ElectricAiD ireland, which travelled from Dublin to Waterford, Cork, Limerick and sligo was in itself an enlightening event to the many EsB staff who attended the various presentations made by organisations who deal with the tragedies that are suicide and homelessness. Many would admit that while they supported the causes they had never, at first hand, come so close to understanding what is behind these two scourges of our society. Neither subjects are straightforward and there is usually no one reason why people find themselves driven to the despair of taking their own lives. Neither is there often a single factor which leaves somebody homeless but rather a chain of events. The representatives from a wide range of charities around the country gave us insightful presentations which were very well received by all those present and left us in no doubt of how much in need of funds these organisations are. They themselves were truly inspiring people who give so much to a wide range of bodies. This Christmas more than ever, they will be hard pressed to deliver services to a growing number of problems. Please remember those in most need at this particular time of the year and be grateful and appreciative of good health and happiness. May we wish you and your loved ones a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year. ESB MADSOC is mad about musicals Well who isn’t? But MADsOC’s new show, “Mad about Musicals”, hits the stage of the National Concert hall (NCh) on 6th March 2011. it’s been nearly 6 years since the last MADsOC production, also in NCh in 2005. But the wait will have been worthwhile. Directed by Christine scarry and with a full orchestra under the baton of Gay Kirwan, this new production contains some of your favourite songs from Miss saigon, south Pacific, Wicked, Jesus Christ superstar and Ragtime. This celebration of musicals also features the popular classics of stephen sondheim, Kander & Ebb and Jason Robert Brown from their Broadway and West End hit musicals. in 2010, we are revamped, revived and back on the boards again. We’ll be starting rehearsals in January. if you’d like to experience the magic of standing on the NCh stage, come along then and join RE1 MS4 with us. if you just want to enjoy a good MS5 night out and a great show, put March 6th in your diary. it’s not to be missed. XX% Make the most of IT !  Colour Code your Calendar using Customised Labels How to make the most of IT by Eddie Nally When using Calendar in MS Outlook, all entries look the same whether they are Appointments, Meeting Requests or inserted items. You can make your calendar much more visually informative when you apply customised coloured labels to each type of calendar entry. Open your Outlook calendar and click on the ‘calendar coloring’ button on the toolbar. Click on Edit Labels at the bottom of the list of menu items. Now, you can overwrite the available colour codes to suit your own requirements When you have to add a new entry to your calendar, use the label drop-down option to apply your choice of label/ category. You will find that your calendar is much more informative with colours applied.
