The subsea connection, on which Internet service provider cogent communications will be the debut customer, is a new venture with Geo, who are focused on designing and building bespoke dedicated fibre network solutions across the UK and now in Ireland. Under this programme over 700 post-primary schools will have 100Mbit internet connection. The prize was a renewable educational Wind energy Training Kit for her school to promote the awareness and understanding of renewable energy in the classroom and to encourage the production of energy from sustainable sources. n ESB Telecoms Ltd & Telecom Services raise €425 for Breast Cancer Awareness IN ocToBer, the Irish cancer society and the Marie Keating Foundation promoted awareness to fight Breast cancer throughout Ireland. It is important that everyone is breast aware, as we all have a mother, sister, cousin, aunt, colleague or best friend who could be affected. Irish women have a one in 12 chance of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. regular screening and early diagnosis improves survival rates so it is essential that people have regular health checks and make themselves aware of the warning signs. on Friday october 22nd esB Telecoms ltd and Telecom services held a Pink day, where employees wore pink attire and with a small donation there were delicious pink buns available for morning break. A total of €425 was collected and sent to the Marie Keating foundation to fund the highest standard of treatment, support and care, and to improve the quality of life of people living with Breast cancer. n Also at the Ploughing Championship Sustainable and Renewable Competition are: Maria Sheehan, Science Teacher St. Caimin’s Community School, Shannon, with student and competition winner, Aideen Farrell, and Billy Nutley of ESB Networks.
