Before i received the product, i had thought that it might find some way of harvesting the energy of a runner’s movement, and perhaps in future versions of the product, the manufacturers may have figured this out. while making pathways more visible to the runner, it would also help make the runner more visible, therefore hopefully making the activity safer during wintertime. it can also double as a work torch, with a light that is variable between spot focus and spread. Being a little quirky, you will find it in the “alternative and cool products” section of eSBStore.ie. while it doesn’t have the appeal of products here such as the Living colours mood light, it may be useful as a gift for an enthusiastic jogger who wants to remove all excuses for training during those bleak, dark winter evenings. at €31.50 it seems good value, particularly given the fact that it is Led-based technology, which means the energy usage of the device is negligible. n Pupils from St. Mary’s Boys National School. ESBIE MiniSteR FoR communications, energy and natural Resources, eamon Ryan, td joined pupils from St. Mary’s Boys national School, Rathfarnham and staff from RtÉ to launch this year’s an taisce greenSchools eSB independent energy Project. the an taisce greenSchools energy Project, supported by eSB independent energy, encourages primary school students and businesses to partner up in order to exchange expertise and devise creative ways to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions. RtÉ teamed up with ireland’s 2000th green School, St Mary’s BnS, Rathfarnham. the first of this year’s collaborations is seen as a flagship partnership and a major commitment by RtÉ in reducing its carbon footprint and developing its already successful sustainability programme. Previous achievements by Rte and St Mary’s in areas of waste reduction, management and recycling have been recognised as best practice in both business and academic circles. it is envisaged that both RtÉ and St Mary’s will share their expertise, knowledge and experiences to produce an effective and exciting partnership. “to have reached a point where two thousand of ireland’s national Schools are ‘going green’ is remarkable,” said the Minister. “this is exactly the right approach to be taking – educating the future generations about sustainability and evoking a sense of passion and excitement amongst them about green issues. i’m sure their collaboration with RtÉ through the eSB independent energy sponsored green energy Project will deliver more efficiencies both at the organisation and in the school and i wish all involved the very best of luck.” Brid horan, executive director energy Solutions, eSB said: “as a Appreciation Aideen Logan aideen StaRted work in eSB Fleet Street, 29 short years ago. She moved to it Solutions in 1990 where her ability shone through, recognised through progressively more senior roles. She will be best remembered from her time in it consulting, initially working with Bill ebrill as her mentor, until the point where aideen became the Manager, it consulting. with her experience, ability, work ethic, business acumen and relationships with customers, aideen was respected, admired and valued as a senior manager both in it, across wider eSB Business and with eSB Business Partners. She played a vital part in the successful implementation of key major eSB it projects including MoiP and aiM. as Manager it consulting, she looked after the needs both business and personal for all her staff. her advice was sought and valued by many. aideen always made time for others, no matter what her own commitments were. aideen’s high standards and caring of others ran throughout her life both at work and in her personal life. her face brightened when she spoke of her husband Bernard and darling daughter Jenny. She had a very strong and unique sense of style, which shone through in house and home, in her garden and indeed herself. aideen’s great loves in her life were her husband Bernard, daughter Jenny, dylan (her dog), tranquil garden, and of course all her family and friends - of which aideen had many. we are all very saddened by aideen’s untimely passing and will long remember her for her wit, style, her concern for others, her sense of humour and last but not least for her beautiful smile. aideen will indeed be missed by many but all have a very fond memory with a smile on their face. Golf success CuSToMER SuPPLy the LadieS Senior Foursomes team (h’cap 0 – 14) from county Sligo golf club represented the western district in the 2010 irish Ladies golf Union inter-club championships held in donabate golf club recently. Mary conefrey, Payments control team Leader, Sligo was part of the team who drew Belvoir Park from Belfast in the first Semi-final. co Sligo had a tight battle with Belvoir Park with their top pairing of current irish Senior international Violet McBride and gail Linter giving a magnificent display of golf as did the top pairing of holly Robinson and Marie Rooney of co Sligo, with a number of birdies fired by both sides before the northern pair eventually emerged as winner on the 20th hole exciting matches followed in the second and third games also, with Belvoir Park holding on to claim the narrow 1up victories in both which put them through the final against the Munster champions Killarney.
