Billing & Payments Partnership Group presentation to Heart Children Ireland

CUSTOMER SUPPLY

IN LATE 2009, a Charity account was set up within Payments, ESBCS to allow customers the opportunity to donate small sums of money to a charity where they had a credit balance on their electricity account and a different charity would benefit from these customer donations each year. This initiative has been very well received by customers and a total of €720 was raised in 2010. The Billing & Payments Partnership Group nominated ‘Heart Children Ireland’ as this years deserving charity. All customers who have donated money to the Charity Account during the year will be issued with a token ‘Thank You’ card by the Direct Debit Admin team in Sligo acknowledging their donation to the nominated charity.

Founded in 1990, Heart Children Ireland is a registered charity and operates as a support group for parents and families of children with a Congenital Heart Disorder. To date they have over 1,000 member families. CHD is the most common of all birth defects affecting one in every one hundred children born at present. About half of all babies born with CHD required heart operations. This voluntary support group receives no government funding and relies on their own fundraising and donations from individuals and business. Over the last 20 years, Heart Children Ireland has raised over €2m for the cardiac unit in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

The Partnership group would like to extend its thanks to the Contact Centre and all Billing & Payments staff in supporting this worthwhile initiative.

Print free day in ESB

Sustainability champions gather around boxes of paper during ESB Print Free Day. See caption below.
Sustainability champions based in ESB Head Office decided on a number of initiatives at a workshop early in 2010. Wednesday September 20th was designated print free day across the company. On this day, staff were encouraged to look at innovative ways to work without printing, and in the process, save paper, ink and energy from printing. Pictured above are: Executive Director Energy Solutions, Brid Horan, with ICT Sustainability Manager Maurice O Connor and sustainability champions Miriam Graham, Peter Murphy and Linda Daniel Christie illustrating the quantity of paper that we can save through sustainability initiatives such as Print Free Day.

ESBStore.ie made its one thousandth sale on Tuesday November 2nd. Better still, there were 35,236 visits to ESBStore.ie in the month of October, an incredible level of interest and sales are up 80% on the previous month.

Among the top selling products to date are:

  1. The Chimney Balloon
  2. The Remote Control Socket set
  3. The Living Colours LED Light
  4. Carbon Monoxide Alarm.

We are working continuously to improve and update the store. We want every prospective buyer to have an excellent experience when they visit our shop – and even if they don’t buy first time around, we want them to come back again.

We have added tabs at Product Description level on the site, giving detailed product specifications and in many cases videos explaining the product features. The video has proved really popular – for example, not many people know how to fit a chimney balloon so the ‘how-to’ video is really handy!

We have added a further 12 new products to the store in the last few weeks including: a battery charger with batteries that offer the benefits of conventional ones (where they come precharged), a solar-powered Bluetooth speaker, solar powered party lights, a child’s guide-light and others that we feel are ideal as Christmas gifts.

The store is benefitting from a terrific marketing campaign of PR and advertising on TV, radio, press, ezines and online, which is reflected in a high-level of online search activity. The store is also featured in Your Home this Season, our Customer Supply bill insert.

Remember, we have some great energy-efficiency products that come with our strong recommendations. And, and present, we have free delivery for all orders over €30. Save yourself some energy in more ways than one and check out ESBStore.ie for some great Christmas present ideas!
