Mayo. public consultation day Website redesign marks Global Wind Day 2010 ESBI InDEPEnDEnT GEnErATIon recently announced the launch of a redesigned Hibernian Wind Power website www.hibernianwindpower. ie to coincide with Global Wind Day 2010. The site outlines how the ESB portfolio of windfarms are developed, managed and traded in the Single Electricity Market (SEM) and retailed under the ESB Independent Energy resource product - the only greenbranded product in the market. The website reinforces how ESB engages with local communities near windfarms and it also promotes ESB’s renewables Strategy, which commits to: • elivering one-third of its electricity D generation from renewable sources by 2020. • chieving carbon net-zero by 2035 A (mostly through wind farms in Ireland and the UK). Approximately 200 visitors attended and were provided with an outline of the proposed project. They were also briefed on the likely impacts of the various components of the project during its construction and operation phases. on the evening prior to the information day, a preview and a briefing on the project was presented to Mayo County Council. The presentation was received very positively by the county manager and by local councillors. The local community provided both verbal and written feedback on the day and were also given the opportunity to submit comments after the event. Safety, environment, noise, visual impact and marine stakeholder interaction were among the issues raised. All of these are being addressed through the consultation and communication plan and will feed into the design phase of the project.
