Conversation Strategy - 21

OUR GLOBAL GOALS

HOW WE WILL GET THERE
We will work to transform water
governance by leveraging financial
institutions, the private sector and
international treaty organizations to
influence government decision-making
and open up new opportunities to
conserve critically important rivers and
freshwater ecosystems across the world.
We will seek to redirect billions of
dollars from financial institutions
into more sustainable water projects.
Innovative financial solutions are
being considered to drive this change,
including a water stewardship fund,
a pipeline of bankable projects, and
scaling up landscape investments
through our Landscape Finance Lab.
We also aim to transform corporate
water management by ensuring that
businesses adopt water stewardship
approaches to mitigate water risks,
expand collective action, and help drive
positive outcomes in river basins. The
upgraded WWF Water Risk Filter will
be a critical tool, enabling companies

and investors to assess, value and
respond to water risk.
Finally, WWF will work with treaty
organizations, such as the Ramsar
Wetlands Convention, to strengthen
regional and international mechanisms
and standards and hold governments
accountable for their commitments.
Coupled with our successful
conservation work on the ground in
partnership with communities, civil
society groups and governments in over
50 countries, we can tackle the complex
challenges facing freshwater ecosystems.
