Conversation Strategy - 15

OUR GLOBAL GOALS

HOW WE WILL GET THERE
Our unrelenting passion to see wildlife
thriving globally will require us to
focus on both the conservation of
vital habitats and the prevention of
overexploitation of species.
We will work for increased habitat
protection in the most biodiverse
regions, strengthening site
management from the poles to the
tropics, connecting fragmented
landscapes and seascapes to piece
together habitats in critical conservation
areas, and increasing the resilience
of large conservation landscapes to
climate change. Improving
connectivity and conserving climate
refuges will help increase climate
change resilience by allowing
species to move to more climatically
suitable areas where needed.
With these habitats secured, wildlife
populations on land and in rivers and
oceans will be further boosted by
preventing overexploitation. We will
achieve this by ending illegal wildlife

trade, putting an end to poaching,
reducing unintentional catch, and
enabling communities to successfully
coexist with wildlife.
Our ambitious goal and outcomes,
directly aligned with the UN's
Convention on Biological Diversity
and global Sustainable Development
Goals, will be delivered through
deep engagement with partners,
international policy bodies, and
stakeholders at all levels.

OUTCOMES BY 2030
n VITAL HABITATS CONSERVED: PROTECTED
AREAS AND COMMUNITY CONSERVED
AREAS OF HIGH BIODIVERSITY VALUE
COVER AT LEAST 30% OF THE EARTH
AND ARE MEASURABLY IMPROVED IN
MANAGEMENT AND CONNECTIVITY
n OVEREXPLOITATION PREVENTED:
ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TRADE IS ELIMINATED
AND EXPLOITATION IS REDUCED TO
SUSTAINABLE LEVELS FOR KEY SPECIES.
