It sounds like you're already busy
enough, so why the involvement
with Seneca?
First and foremost the team at Seneca reflect
many of the same values I hold myself to. Honesty,
integrity and hard work are three elements deeply
engrained in the Seneca culture. From the board
room right across the whole business, the desire
to grow, be dynamic and drive towards a common
goal is evident. It's infectious. Secondly, Seneca
operate in several markets in which I have a lot of
experience and sharing the knowledge I've gained
as well as my inherent desire to continue learning
are key stimulants for me. But mostly I enjoy
the challenge of providing strategic counsel to a
business as fast-paced and ambitious as Seneca!
What excites you most about
Seneca?
Seneca is spearheaded by some remarkable
individuals. Richard Manley, co-founder and
Managing Partner of Seneca Partners is one of
the most impressive people I've had the pleasure
of working with, and although age is never a
reliable measure of ability, he's not yet 40 years
old so his achievements to date are remarkable.
If you couple Richard's talent, drive and hunger to
achieve something really special at Seneca with the
equally impressive but more experienced heads
of Ian Currie, Tim Murphy and Ian Battersby, the
recipe is an enviable one. Any company that can go
from a standing start in 2010 to in excess of £500
million of assets under management only 7 years
later is worth sitting up and taking notice of.
So in your view, what comes next
for Seneca?
I have regular communications with the Directors
at Seneca and there is always a buzz about the
place. There's always something exciting to share
and always something new on the horizon. Seneca
never stand still. There is an enduring appetite
to continually expand capabilities, product lines,
expertise and the collective knowledge base. The
future is an exciting one but I'd be foolish to make
a prediction of things to come. The dynamism of
Seneca's approach to growth and opportunity
dictates that things couldn't be any further from
being predictable. What I do know however is that
the business will continue to grow. New people will
be added with fresh skillsets, new product lines will
be developed and existing services will continue
to thrive. There are opportunities around every
corner for Seneca and the future is bright.
