Many advisers and investors tend to think of
EIS season as the period between January and
April tax year end but it is all year round for us.
We spend a great deal of time in due diligence,
identifying the best investment propositions and
taking them through our Investment Committee
and into our pipeline ready for legal completion.
But the reality is that we receive subscriptions
into our various EIS products pretty much every
day and on average we will complete more than
20 investments each year, meaning it becomes a
constant programme for us. By the same token,
investors like to have some indication and timeline
on when their money will be invested so that they
can manage their tax positions efficiently.

Since its inception in 2013, Seneca's EIS Portfolio
Service team has invested almost £50 million of
growth capital in to over 35 companies, across
more than 60 investment rounds. Whilst other EIS
product providers have struggled to deploy funds,
often sitting on large cash balances for 12 months
plus, our strong deal flow generation and efficient
deal execution has enabled the team to typically
achieve full deployment 8 months from receipt of
cash so that each investor has a decent spread
across 4-6 companies each time they invest with us.
We review more than 500 potential opportunities
each year which means we can be highly selective
and only pick those that we believe offer the best
investment potential. This also provides us with
ample sector diversification on which to base
investors' portfolios.
