The storage sector itself, continues to grow in the UK,
where there is now close to 40 million sq ft of managed
storage space, with industry turnover in 2015 estimated at
a c. £440million (source: Cushman and Wakefield Annual
Industry Survey 2016). Storage businesses have proved to
be an attractive option for investors looking to capitalise
on increasing demand, whilst the low level of fixed
operating costs in the industry, together with the large
number of alternative uses for the underlying assets has
provided good downside protection for their investment.
