he demand for occasional use
satellite connectivity is robust,
but many parts of the world are price
sensitive, which is why SIS LIVE's
Gateway Services, enables users in the
Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the
Americas to benefit from Occasional
Use (OU) connectivity with a reliable,
world-class video and data delivery
platform at competitive rates.
The SIS LIVE Gateway Service
provides OU booking services and
satellite line-up provides support for
Ku-band European beam capacity of
the ABS-3A satellite, which connects
the Americas, Europe, and MENA.

The service is fully managed by SIS
LIVE in collaboration with ABS Global
Ltd (ABS) technical and operational
staff. SIS LIVE's highly experienced
OU booking desk and NOC (Network
Operations Centre) technical staff
utilise SIS LIVE's teleport and
connectivity infrastructure to serve
ABS customers who wish to deliver
major events and sports to the
broadcast community in Europe and
MENA.
SIS LIVE's thorough understanding
of the OU multi-platform, multiapplication market throughout Europe
and MENA, coupled with the new
gateway to those services, has already
accelerated the development of new
business opportunities in those and
other markets.
The Gateway Service offers a
comprehensive range of transmission
and
transmission
management,
including a managed platform for

space segment booking, NOC services,
and satellite capacity management.
This enables customers to take
advantage of world class broadcast
assets and personnel to tailor a unique
OpEx model that suits their needs at
any given moment. Customer branded
bookings facilities are available via
telephone and email 24/7.

because requests often arrive to our

booking departments for capacity
needs within the hour. However,

expects, and it's our job to ensure
availability, and reliability, which our
Gateway Service does."
The Gateway Service utilises existing
resources to provide an outsourcing
model for satellite operations. For
ABS, SIS LIVE takes bookings for OU
satellite capacity via a dedicated,
branded phone line and mail box.
SIS LIVE's NOC in Manchester
also manages the line-up for
third party users on the ABS3A spacecraft, again with a
dedicated, branded line for those
services.
SIS LIVE is one of Europe's
largest suppliers of satellite
uplinks and OU satellite services,
providing more than 500MHz of
permanently leased satellite capacity,
including 90MHz dedicated for OU
events.
SIS LIVE also owns and operates two
teleports, located in MediaCityUK and
Milton Keynes, with Ka, C, Ku band
and DBS up and downlinks, bothway facility lines to BT Tower, plus
standard conversion capabilities.
Its teleports also distribute 33
direct-to-home channels for global

Compact 8:1 Redundancy
System - the RSCC-8 system features

a competitive price-to-performance
ratio and compact 8:1 design that
can be used for L-Band upconverters,
downconverters,
and
modulators. The system
can be controlled from
the front panel of the
controller box or remotely
via RS-232, RS-422/485,
or IP over Ethernet. In
its automatic mode, an
automatic
switchover
to a standby unit is performed upon
detection of an alarm generated by
the active units. Operators can also
choose to initiate a manual switchover
to the standby unit, if needed.
Multiple power supplies and AC input
connectors guarantee high availability
of the system. The system includes a
1HU controller box and a 1HU switch
box. It is also available with integrated
