SMPTE to Provide Valuable Opportunities
at the 2015 NAB Show

op-level executives, pioneering
engineers, and inﬂuential thought
leaders count themselves among
the Society of Motion Picture and
Television Engineers (SMPTE) growing
membership, of more than 6000. The
knowledge and impact of SMPTE's
members within the entertainment
industry is far reaching, and a testament
to the high quality of professionals
that make up the Society. This strong
network of individuals is responsible
for cutting edge technology that
delivers the highest quality in creative
content, to audiences across the globe,
no matter how they consume it.

This valuable inﬂuence will be
illustrated at the 2015 NAB Show's
Technology Summit on Cinema (TSC),
produced in partnership with SMPTE.
From advances in content creation
tools and workﬂows, to the evolving
cloud-based postproduction world, and
the next steps in theatrical exhibition,
the TSC provides a roadmap to what's
next on the cinema horizon. The event
also explores potentially disruptive
innovations, some of which are still in
the lab and could redeﬁne the "ﬁlm"
experience and, in fact, all content
as we know it. The TSC will also host
an exclusive ﬁrst look at the SMPTE
documentary,
" M o v i n g
Images," in 4K,
which is now in
production. This
is your chance
to be among

to preview the ﬁlm, and do so in the
highest quality.
SMPTE staff and leadership will
also be on hand at the SMPTE booth,
to discuss membership beneﬁts and
the Society's role in international
standards and interoperability. SMPTE
is a highly inclusive organisation that
embraces anyone who is passionate
about media technology. Prospective
members will be able to join, and
existing members may renew their
memberships on-site. SMPTE members
who bring their co-workers, clients,
and vendors to the SMPTE booth to
sign up for SMPTE membership, will
earn themselves a free gift.
For students, SMPTE membership
presents an invaluable opportunity
to network with inﬂuential industry
leaders. Students from all over the
world are invited to the SMPTE booth
at the NAB Show for the annual ice

to interact with SMPTE members,
including SMPTE board members and

in audio, digital cinema, cameras,
broadcasting, manufacturing, and
new media. The Society's support for
students goes well beyond offering
expert advice and free ice cream.
Through a challenge grant established
in 2012 by William C. Miller, SMPTE
Membership Vice President, the
Society has sponsored more than 650
student memberships.
