roadcast Pix offers a more unified
approach to video production
than any other integrated production
switcher. At the heart of every Granite,
Mica, Flint and Roadie system is Fluent
Control, a collection of tools that
simplifies live production. Broadcast
Pix is demonstrating new Version 5
software with enhanced Fluent Control
features at IBC 2015 (Stand 7.B21).
Smooth Workflow
The Fluent Control toolset eliminates
the need for additional control
room components and staff. The
built-in character generator delivers
professional
graphics
without
requiring a second workstation.
Rapid CG offers connection to social
media, news systems, scoreboards,
and databases for automated graphic
creation. The built-in, dual-channel
clip server streamlines roll-ins and
transition effects, and Fluent WatchFolders allow for dynamic import of
content, even during a live production.
Robotic camera control allows for
control of most popular pan/tilt/zoom
cameras, including new IP controllable
cameras from Panasonic and Sony,
and offers true integrated production
for "one-man band" productions.

Other
Fluent
Control
tools
add convenience and improve
functionality.
Fluent-View
is
a
comprehensive and customisable
multi-viewer that shows every
source, output, key layer, content,
and more. Users can save different
layouts to meet the preferences of
different technical directors. Filebased Fluent Macros make it easy
to produce complicated moves and
transitions with a single button
push. ClearKey, Broadcast Pix's next
generation
chromakeyer,
offers
precise and intuitive controls to handle
challenging visuals and create more
realistic shadow and lighting effects.
Bundle ClearKey with Broadcast Pix's
enhanced Virtual Set Studios with
pan-and-scan capability, and users can
add their own virtual background and
zoom anywhere on screen with a push
of a button.

Faith Chapel Christian Center, a
mega church based in Alabama,
recently upgraded to an HD video
infrastructure built around two

service videos are produced and shown
to the congregation prior to Sunday
services. The content is networked
from the church's edit suite to the
Granite via Watch-Folders, Broadcast
Pix's integrated content management
solution, then played via the built in
clip store. "The Watch-Folders were
a very important selling point, and
they work like a charm," noted Lionel
Boone, Sr., audio/video engineer for
Faith Chapel and media consultant for
Birmingham-based Infinitive Media
Concepts Productions.
Slo-Mo Replays
Another new addition to Fluent
Control is PixPlay, a cost-effective slow
motion and replay application that
supports Blackmagic Design and AJA
Video Systems disk recorders. Ideal
for almost any sports application, it
ports VTR control to the Broadcast Pix
production switcher along with six preset replay speeds. Users can also scrub
or step through a scene for better
control and functionality, as well as
mark an unlimited number of points as
part of a playback in a highlight reel.
The new Router Control software
option extends the I/O of all
Broadcast Pix switchers and allows
easy cross-point control of AJA
SDI video router sources to router
destinations. Through a simple TCP/
IP connection, Router Control makes
it easy to integrate external sources
into live productions. The router can
be controlled through Fluent-View or
a control panel, and Fluent Macros
can route multiple sources with one
button. Custom names on the router
are automatically mapped as an under
monitor display (UMD) and on the
panel through patented PixButtons.
Control Options
Another example of Fluent Control
integration is VOX, Broadcast Pix's
popular visual radio solution. Housed

in a 1 RU chassis with eight microphone
inputs, VOX connects to any Broadcast
Pix system, automatically detects
which microphone is being used,
and
produces
video-follow-audio
productions without an operator.
VOX integrates with Fluent Macros
to select camera pre-sets, roll clips
and animations, add or remove titles,
and even execute picture-in-picture
compositions for interviews for a
completely automated production.
Fluent Control is at the heart of every
Broadcast Pix integrated production
system, including the newly refreshed
Flint product line. Now available with
four (Flint LX) or six (Flint LS) inputs,
all Flint video inputs are available
as SDI or HDMI, with one input also
supporting analogue video. Audio
has also been improved with four
balanced analogue or two AES/EBU
inputs, plus support for embedded
SDI or HDMI audio from any input.
Flint also expands on Fluent Control
with an internal eight-channel audio
mixer, which is controlled through an
intuitive interface. Users can continue
to stream and record internally, but
Version 5 adds control of a Matrox
Monarch HD streamer/recorder, so all
Broadcast Pix systems can stream and
record HD video.
Version 5 software will be available
later this year for all Flint, Granite,
Mica, and Roadie systems. It is a free
upgrade for customers who are still
