With cyber attacks becoming increasingly common around the world, organisations are now realising that they need to develop a proactive strategy for dealing with cyber-based crises. At the heart of this transition are the business leaders that are expected to design, manage and implement a robust cyber security strategy for their organisation. The Cyber Security Forum is a oneday, invitation-only event that will convene Chief Technology Officers, Chief Information Officers, Chief Information Security Officers and Chief Digital Officers within media and broadcasting for a conversation on the challenges and opportunities presented by cyber security for broadcasters. "IBC2018 is the most important event in the calendar for those looking to stay ahead in the industry" said IBC CEO Michael Crimp. "The cyber threat is very real, and developing an awareness, knowledge and strategy around this is key. The Cyber Security Forum reflects this, bringing together those leading the defence in cyber security from around the world to discuss, debate and shape future strategy." Attendees will discuss how to anticipate the next cyber threat, how to manage a breach and how to prepare for the future of cyber security. The Cyber Security Forum sits alongside the Telco & Media Innovation Forum and Leaders' Forum as part of IBC's Executive Forums programme - a new initiative designed to attract 450 C-level experts to debate the industry's biggest challenges and opportunities. The Cyber Security Forum will include keynotes from Channel 4 CISO Brian Brackenborough on cyber security and collaboration, as well as Melody Hildebrandt, Global CISO, 21st Century Fox, who will be exploring risk, resilience and reputation in order to become cyber secure across an entire organisation. Rob Silvers, Partner, Litigation at Paul Hastings & Former Assistant Secretary for Cyber Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will be exploring the relationship between risk and ROI, focusing on how to effectively manage cyber risk. The event will aim to tackle some of the most pressing cyber security challenges faced by the industry, providing a platform for leading executives to discuss the need to drive a comprehensive cyber plan that integrates people, capital and technology risks across the entire organisation. The sessions will explore how various business components including IT security, human resources, compliance and fraud prevention - can be brought together to create a single cyber resilient organisation. IBC's Cyber Security Forum will also feature a networking lunch where delegates will take part in a cyber security exercise specially designed for IBC by Scott Borg, who has helped devise and run national cyber security exercises. Michael Crimp, IBC CEO Cobalt Digital and Technicolor HDR Technology Deployed by AT&T S atellite service provider AT&T is using high dynamic range (HDR) technology from Cobalt Digital and Technicolor to bring more vivid and realistic images to 4K broadcasts of live "MLB Network Showcase" games on its DIRECTV satellite service. Integrated into the OB truck used for production, the Cobalt 9904-UDX-4K+HDR-ITM card uses the Technicolor HDR ITM (Intelligent Tone Management) process to accept SDR video signals and create HDR video signals in real time. The integrated solution from Cobalt and Technicolor addresses the needs of production truck operators working with a mix of SDR and HDR systems by allowing them to create HDR signals easily from existing SDR sources, such as cameras and graphics systems. Technicolor's ITM SDR-to-HDR process manages brighter highlights and darker shadows to deliver more realistic images for the most compelling and immersive entertainment experiences. In addition to supporting live broadcasts, this real-time analysis and adjustment capability offers broadcasters an immediate opportunity to unlock the millions of hours of existing SDR content and release it into an HDR world. Another advantage of using Technicolor's technology is its ability to tone-map HDR signals into SDR signals while creating SL-HDR1 metadata that is then inserted into the SDR signal for use downstream. This capability means a network service provider only needs to transmit an SDR feed to the viewer, and if the viewer has compatible equipment (TV or set-top box), the system will automatically "rehydrate" the signal to deliver a full HDR experience. This process is called Technicolor HDR, and the technology will reside in the Cobalt 9904-UDX4K by the end of the third quarter. At that point, the 9904-UDX-4K will be Technicolor HDR will reside in the Cobalt 9904-UDX-4K the only baseband processor needed to create HDR and deliver it over existing SDR-capable networks. Cobalt Digital is the first U.S. manufacturer selected to license Technicolor's HDR ITM technology for the broadcast television environment, and the technology is available as an option for Cobalt's new series of 12G-SDI 4K cards for the openGear platform. "Baseball is the true American pastime, and Cobalt is proud to play a key role in bringing this immersive viewing experience to DIRECTV customers and baseball fans who can't make it to the game in person," said Cobalt Digital CEO Bob McAlpine.
