Duggan Wins Top
ACS Accolade
AUS: At this year's Fujinon Fujifilm
Australian
Cinematographers
Society (ACS) National Awards,
Simon Duggan ACS (Hacksaw
Ridge) took the coveted Milli award
for Australian Cinematographer of
the Year.

Duggan, who was unable to
collect the award in person due to
overseas shooting commitments,
had already received critical
international acclaim for the Mel
Gibson-directed film, said: "I'm
very honoured to receive this
year's Milli award for Hacksaw
Ridge. As we know it's always a
collaboration between a great
director, cast and crew to achieve
such an amazing result.
"I've always enjoyed the local and
international films I've shot here in
Australia and I've managed to have
the very best Australian crews
behind me over the years.
"I would like to thank the society
and President Ron Johanson OAM
ACS along with all the committee
members and all the sponsors who
have made tonight and so many
other ACS events possible."
The national awards, this year
hosted by ABC news anchor Matt
Wordsworth and with guest of
honour Australian actor Noni
Hazlehurst.
The award presentations followed
a national sponsor IMPRESSIONS
Expo and a screening of the new
re-imagining of Picnic at Hanging
Rock and Q&A with DoP Garry
Phillips ACS both at the Griffith
Film School in Brisbane.

Octopus Newsroom
IND: NET, one of Indonesia's
leading television channels, has
invested in a latest-generation
Octopus 8.1 newsroom computer
system.
The project was unusually
challenging as it had to be
completed within two weeks before
the existing NRCS subscription
expired.
Octopus Newsroom's European
and Asian teams joined forces for
installation and configuration of
the system.
Completed
successfully
on
schedule, including integration
with NET's playout, graphics and
teleprompter equipment while the
station was still on air.

HKITV Channels Launch
T

he launch ceremony of Hong
Kong International TV (HKITV),
owned by Hong Kong International TV
Media Group, was held recently at The
Ballroom, Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel.
The kick-off session of HKITV
Variety Channel and HKITV Anime
Channel was led by Mr Wang Lei,
Chairman of the Director Board, Hong
Kong International TV Media Group,
together with honourable guests,
which marked the beginning of a new
media era.
Mr Wang said: "HKITV is going to
produce plenty of varieties to entertain
millions of audiences. We promise to
create more original contents in the
topic of Sinology, News, Animate, Hip
& Trend, Travel, Drama and so on.
We will try our very best to promote
Chinese culture and studies to the
world."

HKITV Variety Channel and HKITV

MediaHub Australia

has announced digital media
distribution facility MediaHub Australia
will provide playout services for its
growing suite of premium Sky News
channels.
MediaHub Australia MD Alan
