CW Sonderoptic Teases
ARRI-Compatible Mount
A

new lens mount, compatible with
ARRI's ALEXA LF camera, will
be available from manufacturer CW
Sonderoptic later this year.
Already available in PL and ARRI
XPL mounts, the new mount will
be compatible with ARRI's Alexa LF
camera. In addition, the LPL mount
versions of the Leica Thalia lenses will
include electronics for metadata and

will be swappable on existing PL or
XPL lenses.
"The Leica Thalia lenses are the only
set of lenses that anyone can own
and that can cover any and all current
digital formats," said Gerhard Baier,
Managing Director of CW Sonderoptic.
"It only makes sense that we would
support this new lens mount from
ARRI."

Seth
Emmons,
Director
of
Communications, said: "The idea is to
maintain the Thalia's already futureproof performance.
"By supporting LPL we are showing our
customers that these lenses are going
to be ready to work on every camera in
their inventory."
The LPL mounts are expected to start
shipping in Q3 2018.
With nine lenses, ranging from
24mm to 180mm and an image circle
of 60mm, the Leica Thalia prime
lenses offer a cinematic look and
feel for users. They are lightweight
and compact with a matched front
diameter of 95mm and are available in
PL mount with /i Technology metadata
contacts.
The iris design of the Leica Thalia
lenses means it maintains a circular
iris through all aperture stops, creating
a cinematic bokeh that is smooth
and distinct. Out-of-focus elements
maintain their structure, which further

adds to the sense of dimensionality in
the image.
While the Leica Thalia lenses are not
vintage lenses, they do offer many
of the characteristics that have led
cinematographers to pair older lenses
with digital sensors.

Anevia Acquisition Of
Keepixo Goes Ahead

nevia shareholders voted in favour
of all the resolutions tabled by the
Board of Directors at Anevia's AGM,
which was held in Gentilly on Thursday,
April 12 with a quorum of 75.02%. This
definitively sealed Anevia's acquisition
of Keepixo.

through to broadcasting and storage.

and its solutions feature the most
advanced technologies in ultra HD and

at the heart of the OTT video value
chain" says Damien Lucas, Anevia's CoFounder and CTO.

Specialising in the development
of video compression software for
TV operators, Keepixo's existing
solutions, sold to more than 150 clients
worldwide including ZDF, Altibox and
Media Broadcast, enable live or nearlive broadcasts for multi-screen TV.
Keepixo's solutions have been sold
to more than 150 clients worldwide,
including 40 Tier-1 operators.
Previously, a strategic partnership
between
the
two
technology
companies was announced to utilise
this software and provide operators
and broadcasters with a 'one-stop
shop'
ultra-low-latency
delivery
solution for UHD content in OTT

environments.
In 2017, Keepixo
recorded sales of
0.9 million Euros
and had 14 employees,
most of whom are
based in Grenoble.
The acquisition will
now enable Anevia to
offer operators and
broadcasters a new,
end-to-end encoding,
transcoding,
storage,
packaging and delivery solution that
will notably comply with new quality
standards, such as 4K HDR and HEVC,
all under one name.

following the acquisition of Keepixo.
With the recent addition of CMAF for
ultra-low-latency, Content Aware
Encoding and Virtualization, Keepixo
products are amongst the best
solutions for OTT encoding and are a
perfect match with Anevia's existing

With this acquisition, Anevia will
add Genova ultra-low-latency OTT
encoders to enlarge its product range
of OTT delivery software. The recently
updated Flamingo head-end will also
benefit from Keepixo's expertise to
power its multiscreen capabilities.
Anevia showcased its new product
range including an impressive demo
of ultra-low-latency OTT delivery
at NAB.
