SMPTE Standards
Development Director
USA: SMPTE Fellow Thomas
Bause Mason has joined the staff
as the Society's new Director of
Standards Development.
Welcoming Bause Mason to the
SMPTE staff, SMPTE Executive
Director Barbara Lange said: "Not
only has he been deeply involved
in the standards development
process,
including
chairing
several technical committees
and study groups, but his IT
background lends itself well to
our ongoing need to be more
software-focused."
Formerly Owner and Managing
Director of Open Media Consulting,
Bause Mason, began his career as a
computer programmer.
Prior to moving to Los Angeles as
a post-production consultant, he
worked in German television.
Joining NBCUniversal in 2005, he
was the company's lead on the
VSF TR-03/TR-04 and SMPTE ST
2110 standardisation efforts.

Lawo Names Director
Sales & Operations
GER: Lawo has named Craig
Newbury as its Director of Sales
and Operations, immediately
assuming responsibility for the
activities of Lawo in the United
Kingdom and Ireland.
Commenting
Newbury
said:
"Lawo's technological innovation,
future-oriented thinking, and
absolute focus on customer
satisfaction made Lawo a natural
choice. I'm looking forward to
continue to develop and improve
Lawo's presence in the UK and
Ireland and helping our customers
to fully recognise their visions."
Newbury brings with him over
18 years of broadcast related
experience across a range of
technical,
operational
and
commercial roles.
After several years of experience
in senior sales management
positions across the UK
and Europe, Newbury most
recently held the position of
Vice President of Sales and
Marketing for Wohler.

LiveU And Griiip Drive
Motorsports Coverage
G

riiip, the manufacturer of G1
Formula cars and founder of the
new G1 Series has teamed up with LiveU
to provide simplified low cost coverage.
Griiip identified LiveU as the
ideal partner to bring viewers back
to watching and engaging with
motorsport, starting with G1.
"It is unbelievable how much
broadcasting
technologies
have
advanced in the last five years",
said Gilad Agam, CTO with Griiip.
"LiveU is the most advanced and
the most visionary supplier and has
unique, proven technology that can
be successfully used for high-speed
motor racing. We approached them to
build a partnership and we expect this
collaboration to continue beyond the
G1 Series."
The first race of the G1 Series was
streamed on a dedicated website to

attract both new and existing motor
racing fans. Future races will also be
available on Facebook Live.

portable transmission unit from LiveU
on it, attached to a GoPro camera
that was in turn attached to two

mallHD has announced its new
5-inch wireless monitor system, the
FOCUS Bolt TX (transmitter) and FOCUS
Bolt RX (receiver).
Both the TX and RX are built on
FOCUS touchscreen monitor platforms,
with built-in Teradek transmitter and
receiver systems.

For the race scheduled for May 20,
viewers will be able to select individual
driver feeds on the G1 Series website.

takes, preview and review scenes,

The FOCUS Bolt system streamlines
the wireless workflow. On a typical
shoot, a FOCUS Bolt TX transmitting
monitor is located at the camera,
connected via a Micro HDMI cable,
ready to perform the normal duties of
an on-camera monitor and transmit a
video signal. That TX monitor
transmits the full HD signal
that can be received by RX
monitors.
The RX monitors can also
receive input through a Micro
HDMI connector, functioning
as a standalone HD monitor.
