Video Clarity's RTM Manager
Adds File QoE
A

t NAB, Video Clarity will launch
the new RTM Manager with
automated file QoE, a new configuration
of its RTM real-time audio and video
monitoring solution.
Many files get passed into distribution
that either cause a loss of video
quality or have audio problems that
file-checking routines are sometimes
not equipped to catch. RTM Manager
with file QoE applies an easy-to-use,
automated file-testing routine for
VOD or OTT file-encoding workflows
for users that need an added layer of
video and audio quality measurement,
with a threshold for recording lowquality events in the
baseband domain.
Built for post-production
and file delivery centres
that handle all kinds of
content this new RTM
solution's
automated
measurement
process
tests HD and SD video
faster than real-time to accelerate

the test time per file of
both long- and short-form
programming, then presents
results and errors for review.
The RTM Manager browser
interface gives users easy
access for setup and testing
feedback, while the ability to
automatically test multiple
files in a series limits the amount of
necessary human intervention.
On display at the 2018 NAB Show
will be Video Clarity's Venue Player
IP, a new version of the company's
video server that automatically plays
multiple uncompressed segments of

content to multiple screens in precise
timing and sequence. With the advent
of interfaces for uncompressed video
on Ethernet, what was previously an
SDI player/recorder or DisplayPort
player is now optionally available with
a 10G Ethernet interface.
The new version applies
recently developed and
standardised media flows
for playing video and
audio according to SMPTE
ST 2110.

Broadpeak Sets The Pace
A

t the 2018 NAB Show, Broadpeak
will demonstrate its Cloud PVR,
multicast Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR), and
local video-caching solutions, which
set the standard for superior Quality of
Experience (QoE) and efficient content
delivery.

nanoCDN Multicast ABR solution

Broadpeak will showcase its nanoCDN
multicast ABR solution, which makes
HTTP video delivery to any device
truly scalable by turning millions of
broadband gateways, cable modems,
Wi-Fi routers, and STBs into active
components of an operator's content
delivery infrastructure.
Several new use cases for nanoCDN
will be shown, including low latency
for live video streaming and live
HTTP TV service delivery via satellite.
Broadpeak will also demonstrate
innovative new features for nanoCDN,

such as quick start, which prevents
the buffering at the beginning of a live
content stream to ensure the highest
QoE for end users.
Cloud PVR from Broadpeak is used by
some of the largest pay-TV operators
globally. Providing operators with a
simple, scalable, and flexible solution
for delivering time-shifted TV services,
Cloud PVR allows subscribers to
launch multiple recordings on various
channels simultaneously without any
constraint on the available bandwidth
or the number of tuners on the
reception device. With Broadpeak's
solution, service providers can deliver
start-over and catch-up TV, as well
as impulsive recording, using either
a shared-copy or a private-copy
model. The recorded content can be
processed on the fly to be viewed on
any device type.

Cloud PVR Solution

Broadpeak will showcase BroadCache
Box, a local video-caching solution
for
broadcasters
and
content
aggregators. Using BroadCache Box,
content providers can dramatically
reduce CDN costs while boosting
subscribers' QoE. With BroadCache
Box, local caches are deployed into
telecom or cable operators' networks,
and the most popular content from
a specific content provider is stored.
Since the content is streamed from a
location closer to end users, latency

metric that provides accurate quality
measurement when a source reference
is not available - as is often the
case in today's cloud-based delivery
workflows.
