USA / BEL: The 2018 NAB Show
will see some major additions
to EVS' offering, including the
introduction of the next-generation
XT live production server and the
integration of AI into its videorefereeing system, Xeebra.
EVS will also present X-ONE, its
award-winning unified production
system, and demonstrate its
IP flow routing system SCORE
MASTER.
In addition, the EVS booth will
feature dedicated demonstrations
for live eSports production and
sports venue control rooms.

Video Intelligence
Media Management

USA / SWE: Cantemo will
showcase its hybrid-Cloud media
management platform, iconik, at
NAB, along with the latest version
of Cantemo Portal (MAM) solution.
iconik is a hybrid-Cloud based
hub for managing, sharing and
collaborating on media. It uses
Artificial Video Intelligence to
automatically tag content with
timecode-based metadata on
ingestion.
Pat of Cantemo's continuous
delivery approach, iconik is in
constant development with recent
updates featuring improvements to
the video intelligence workflow and
image analytics.

ZEN Master
Live IP Video

USA: Zixi will showcase ZEN (Zixi
Enabled Network) Master, a Clouddelivered set of capabilities that
reduce the complexity of live/livelinear workflows, at NAB.
Making it easy to scale the use
of IP video, ZEN Master provides
a software platform to manage
streaming workflows as scale and
complexity grows.
From a single dashboard, ZEN
Master can control contribution,
CDN or storage, transcoding,
distribution and monitoring of
hundreds to thousands of servers
and connections.

And SAM Portfolio

t NAB, Grass Valley will highlight
how the acquisition of SAM has
created a market-leading supplier with
more resources and technology that
will benefit professionals.
"We acquired SAM to create a proven
portfolio that helps our customers
strengthen their operations," said
Grass Valley President Tim Shoulders.
He said that the focus was to
complete the product and solution
integration strategy and deliver a
superior level of service to customers.
"While there has been some
speculation
about
further
consolidation in the market, it is not
currently a focus for Grass Valley," he
said.
"Hard work is being done behind the

scenes to ensure that our
customers get the maximum
benefit out of this acquisition
as fast as possible," said
Shoulders. "As former SAM
products are rebranded
as Grass Valley, we are
assuring
interoperability
and extending in-region
support for all users. We are
excited about getting to NAB
to showcase our extended
capabilities - when you bring
two leaders together like
this, it's a win for everyone."
Visitors to the NAB booth, will see
offerings from both the Grass Valley
and the SAM portfolios organised by
key application areas.

The booth will include a dedicated
camera stage and a "Discovery Zone"
featuring self-guided virtual tours of
technology topics.

Baselight 5 Functionality Boost
F

ilmLight will be demonstrating the
new functionality recently added
to its market-leading Baselight grading
platform.
Central to Baselight 5 is the Base
Grade, which takes the sting out of
moving between different delivery
formats, and between SDR and HDR.
Boost Range expands the
dynamic range of an image
when converting from SDR
to HDR, using a local tone
mapping approach, resulting
in a more natural looking
result.
The Looks operator has
been upgraded for HDR
to bring preferred colour
rendition to digital image
pipelines.

Support for 360/VR has been
introduced, so that virtually any tool
in the Baselight arsenal - including
secondaries, Paint and Perspective
- can be used to grade 360 footage
by operating in a 'sandwich' of two
Panorama operators, which convert
from LatLong (or equirectangular)

projections to normal projection and
back.
The Relight tool has been boosted
too, with support for area lights so you
can add and adjust specular highlights.
There are a host of other new
features including: strip locking to
prevent accidental deletion; selecting
strips by operator; searching
for buttons and actions
in Chalk; file trimming for
R3D, Phantom, Sony XAVC
and Sony RAW MXF files;
and a new Client View that
shows the current frame and
metadata.
