AFP News Feeds

FRA: AFP is using the end-to-end,
Cloud-based MX1 360 service to
securely transmit news feeds
to broadcasters and publishers
around the world.
By relying on MX1 360 and its
secure IP delivery model, AFP has
removed a significant bottleneck
in its operations, enabling its
worldwide customers to access
content more easily via a branded
portal hosted on the Cloud-based
service platform. With content
ingest via fibre, MX1 360 manages
all streaming, monitoring, and
metadata aggregation.

DeltaLive Is UK
'Haus Of Riedel'

GBR / USA: DeltaLive has taken
delivery of a substantial stock of
Riedel's range of products, which
it has immediately added to its hire
stock inventory.
For DeltaLive, this is a new and

AJA Unleashes FiDO
12G-SDI/Optical Fibre

USA: AJA has released its new
FiDO 12G-SDI/Optical Fibre MiniConverters, an extension of AJA's
FiDO family of SDI/optical fibre
converters. The portable devices
enable seamless transfer of 4K/
UltraHD/2K/HD/SD video and
audio over long distances (up to
10km) over one optical cable. AJA's
FiDO-TR-12G transceiver, FiDO-T12G single-channel transmitter,
FiDO-R-12G
single-channel
receiver, FiDO-2T-12G dual-channel
transmitter and FiDO-2R-12G
dual-channel receiver all meet
relevant SMPTE specifications and
feature a compact design ideal for
placement in racks, OB trucks or
studios.

Belden / Grass Valley
Pays US$94M For SAM

elden / Grass Valley has disclosed
in its annual financial filing to the
SEC that it has paid US$94.2 million for
Snell Advanced Media.
A statement in the formal Belden
filing said: "On February 8, 2018, we
acquired a company for a purchase
price of $75.8 million, plus we assumed
debt of $18.4 million. The acquisition
includes a potential earn-out for which
we have not yet estimated a fair value.
This acquisition was funded with cash
on hand.
"We are in the preliminary phase
of the purchase accounting process,
including obtaining third party
valuations of certain tangible and
intangible assets acquired. As such,
the purchase accounting process is
incomplete and we cannot provide
the required disclosures of the

estimated fair value of the assets and
liabilities acquired for this business
combination."
The newly merged company will
be headquartered in Montreal and
operate under the Grass Valley brand
with Tim Shoulders, President of
Grass Valley heading the combined
operation, working with SAM's Chief
Executive Eric Cooney, who will
continue to serve in an advisory
capacity.
It is understood that the SAM brand
will be retired. Grass Valley has said
that both companies will combine on a
single stand at NAB.

Avid Appoints Jeff Rosica As CEO

vid has announced that the
company's Board of Directors has
appointed Jeff Rosica as CEO of Avid.

The company's Board of Directors
terminated the employment of its
former CEO Louis Hernandez, Jr., due
to "violations of company policies
related to workplace conduct."
Hernandez has also resigned from
his position on the Avid Board of
Directors. Nancy Hawthorne has been
elected Chairman of the Board.
Rosica, who joined Avid in early 2013,
is a well-known industry veteran with
more than 30 years' experience in
broadcast, media and entertainment.
Prior to his role as President, he
served as Senior Vice President, Chief
Sales and Marketing Officer for the
Company.
Nancy Hawthorne, Chairman of the

Avid Board of Directors, said: "Jeff's
deep experience as an industry expert
coupled with his impressive knowledge
of Avid's business and strategy make
him the natural choice to lead the
company."
Commenting Rosica said: "I am
honoured and excited for this
opportunity to lead Avid through this
important moment in the company's
history. The outlook for Avid is strong,
