23 www.inbroadcast.com | Vol: 8 - Issue 3 | March 2018 InMedia Caton Technology Showcase At NAB C aton Technology is a leading manufacturer of advance video encoding and Open Internet data transmission solutions. Founded 21 years ago, Caton Technology's Reliable Real-Time Transport Protocol (R2TP - See Fig.1) and Fast Files Transfer Protocol (F2TP - See Fig.2) enable secure, robust and easy-to-use data transmission for the broadcast and enterprise markets even in the harshest of network conditions. These two protocols are based on Caton's independently developed core technology, the Caton Engine. Leveraging proprietary congestion control techniques, the Caton Engine maximises Bandwidth Utilisation Ratio (BUR) over almost any given bandwidth. Active network monitoring and a suite of advanced, adaptive error correction algorithms create a virtual management layer for any data stream even across unmanageable Open Internet environments. Live Video Solutions: The need for dedicated leased line and satellite solutions for broadcast video solutions has changed significantly as the global Internet increases in bandwidth and coverage. Caton provides a range of service levels depending on clients' budgets and requirements. Broadcasters, content owners, Fig.2: F2TP - Fast Files Transfer Protocol Fig.1: R2TP - Real-Time Transport Protocol educational and other enterprises can now leverage all their network options to deliver the highest quality content, no compromises thanks to R2TP. This suite of IP-based transport solutions is designed specifically to solve QoS/QoE problems for live video transmission over any IP network. Accelerated File Transfer Solutions: Based on the foundations of Caton's R2TP Engine, Caton Technology launched Cydex, an F2TP-based solution for accelerated file transfer, in 2016. Cydex brings the power and scalability of the Caton Engine to managed file transfers. Cydex provides highly accelerated, enterprise-class file transfer with end-to-end multi- layer security. Traditional file transfer technologies such as FTP were never designed for the demands of today's content owners and large enterprises. Advanced optimisation algorithms provide for maximum throughput on any network connection and any distance, even through the strictest firewall infrastructure. Powerful Partnerships: In order to provide game-changing, reliable, and low-cost solutions & services for realtime data and big data transmission all over the world, Caton collaborates with tier one telecom carriers such as PCCW Global and their powerful Global Television Network (GTVN) to bring best-in-class solutions. InStudio The Tract Company Radio SI T he Tract Company is a full cycle radio broadcasting system integrator, offering a complete range of services, from consulting and design to implementation and service support. Tract is also a developer and manufacturer of broadcasting hardware and software. The basis for Tract's project activities is an international team of designers, engineers, consultants and system integrators. The company is set to exhibit for the first time at Broadcast Asia, where Tract will demonstrate its own products within the Russian pavilion. Throughout the show attendees will be able to test the Synapse Intercom which is a modern AoIP (Audio over IP) matrix-style communication network. The connection matrix is managed via the Digispot Synapse software which removes the practical limitations on the number of subscribers, simplifies connections, and makes it possible to quickly configure any part of the network. Using UTP Cat5, Cat6 the system allows rapid deployment of a network, both in an existing or in a custom-built infrastructure, which also reduces the cost of installation. As there is full control over any signal in the system, it is possible to store records of all transactions and to record the conversations of selected subscribers. Furthermore, the ability to work over the Internet allows connections to remote subscriber devices. The solution is suitable for equipping TV and radio complexes, concert halls, and theatres. An installation at GTRK-Saransk, Mordovia Focusing on small radio broadcasters Tract developed a universal mixing console for radio stations. The TR-7 DJIN combines the functions of a recording console and a broadcasting console with the ability to retransmit. The console includes a wide range of advanced interfaces including AoIP Dante, Bluetooth and Internet streaming input and output. TR-7 DJIN supports its own protocol FoxxWire and it works with any automation system. The Digispot II is a radio broadcasting system designed to automate all the technological processes on a radio station, from initial planning and preparation, to post-air logging and archiving. Supporting Unicode and 24/7 broadcasting Digispot II caters for the needs of a small music radio station all the way up to large-scale media companies with networked stations. Tract's Synapse Audio over IP intercom Working with both the Digispot II automation system, as well as autonomously, DJin SJM is an advanced application for embellishing live broadcasts. The programmable player simplifies the management of live broadcasts on the radio, and makes it easy to 'dress' programmes such as quizzes, competitions, and thematic slots. The application can quickly record a programme or a news bulletin with all the required sound effects in place. It may also be used for music 'dressing' of various events.
