Based in Auckland, Parnell will be responsible for promoting and managing all of the company's broadcast, telecoms, storage, IT and government solutions across the country. Magna Systems and Engineering CEO Matthew Clemesha said: "Chris is an excellent addition to Magna's team and the ideal person to help drive our New Zealand business forward." An experienced business development manager and account Executive with 25 years' experience in ICT across national and international markets Parnell brings with him the sales and technical disciplines refined in roles working with companies including Quinto NZ, Renaissance and Apple Australia. JoeCo Appoints Graham Murray GBR: Graham Murray will take charge of international business development and channel management for JoeCo, with a remit to deepen ties into key export markets. Having worked extensively in both Asia and the Middle East, Murray brings more than 35 years of industry experience. He is described by JoeCo founder and Managing Director Joe Bull as "a world-class audio professional with a reputation to match his considerable experience". Murray possesses technical expertise and knowledge of market sectors ranging from high-end broadcast and post-production to the studio sector and live sound. Most recently he held the position of Sales Director, EMEA for the Harman Pro brand, Studer, while in the past he has served in leadership positions for Calrec, Fairlight and AMS Neve. Kaimakami Joins PFT As Senior VP IND: Prime Focus Technologies (PFT) has announced that Nick Kaimakami has joined the organisation as Senior Vice President and Sales Leader for the EMEA Region. "Nick is a skilled professional with in-depth knowledge of both the technical and sales sides of the media industry landscape," said Ramki Sankaranarayanan, Founder & CEO, Prime Focus Technologies. "His focus with PFT is to introduce the value of PFT's flagship product, CLEAR to the market and grow the client base in the EMEA region. We are thrilled to have him on board." Mr. Kaimakami is a 30-year industry veteran with a background across a number of market segments, including media, telecom, technology, and finance. Most recently, he was with Wipro Technologies as Head of Media Europe. Eurosport Partners With Facebook E urosport partnered with Facebook to extend its Winter Games digital coverage to people on Facebook across Europe. Facebook communities in Germany, Sweden and Norway were able to tune in live to Eurosport's coverage of the PyeongChang 2018 Opening Ceremony. Daily highlights, clips and interviews from Eurosport's coverage were also be posted throughout the Games on Eurosport's Facebook Page across key European markets, including the UK, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Norway. Eurosport launched a dedicated mobile digital studio moving between Eurosport's Website venues, producing social-first short form clips with athletes, influencers and fans, giving audiences the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes at the Olympic Winter Games and experience the on-site atmosphere. Eurosport delivered live and ondemand coverage of the Winter Games across all screens in 48 countries. Its digital platforms hosted more than 4,000 hours of coverage and 100 events were available, including 900 hours of live action. In addition, as part of its ambitious digital strategy, Eurosport is worked with digital and social media influencers onsite in PyeongChang to amplify its games coverage. Eurosport's dedicated Olympic Winter Games website and the Eurosport App were the only place across Europe where fans could watch every minute, every athlete and every sport. NBC Olympics Relies On Avid Workflows N BC Olympics selected Avid to provide content creation and media management workflows for its production of the Winter Games. NBC Olympics selected Avid MediaCentral to accelerate and streamline production for the PyeongChang Games. MediaCentral enabled NBC Olympics to streamline its entire workflow, from creation to delivery, throughout the 18 consecutive days of coverage of the PyeongChang Games. "For the 2018 PyeongChang Games, we need to create, manage and distribute enormous volumes of content," said Darryl Jefferson, VP of Post Operations and Digital Workflow at NBC Sports & Olympics. "Over the years, MediaCentral has become an integral component to our workflow. MediaCentral allows our team members in multiple locations, across several continents, to collaborate in real time. Having that ability, provides us with the capacity to create high-quality content quickly and efficiently, and ensure we can meet the productions demands of the Winter Olympics." NBC Olympics relied on Avid's comprehensive tools and workflow solutions throughout all PyeongChang Games venues to help NBC Olympics The Avid MediaCentral UI to manage content creation, automate workflows, and facilitate collaboration between the venues and the IBC. NBC Olympics also deployed Avid NEXIS as the linchpin of its production pipeline, connected to dozens of editing suites with Media Composer. Harmonic Production Selected By NBC Olympics N BC Olympics selected Harmonic's MediaGrid shared storage systems and Spectrum MediaDeck integrated media servers for its production of the Winter Games, which took place in PyeongChang. NBC Olympics used Harmonic solutions for a variety of production applications, including broadcast, ondemand, digital, news operations and Harmonic MediaGrid long-term archive. Harmonic Spectrum MediaDeck media servers deployed by NBC Olympics in PyeongChang will enable on-the-fly capture and proxy generation for all incoming materials. Harmonic MediaGrid shared storage systems located inside NBC's studios at the International Broadcast Center in PyeongChang, as well as at NBC Olympics' headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, provided centralised shared storage with tremendous bandwidth and capacity. "For over a decade, Harmonic's media servers and shared storage systems have been a cornerstone of our content acquisition and production workflow during the Olympics," Jim Miles, Director, Digital Workflow Systems NBC Olympics. "During NBC Olympics' coverage of the PyeongChang Games, Harmonic equipment will enable us to deliver more content from the host city to multiple linear television channels than any previous Winter Games." Harmonic MediaDeck media servers simultaneously recorded as many as 60 incoming venue feeds, giving NBC personnel at the Stamford facility independent control over 60 additional channels of ingest for locally produced Olympic content.
