Axon Technical
Guide On HDR
NED: In a new paper, The Road to
Enhanced Pictures: A technical
guide to HDR and WCG, Axon
CTO Peter Schut discusses
the challenges faced by both
broadcasters and manufacturers
as they strive for better pixels,
improved colour reproduction and
a higher dynamic range.
The guide is developed from Axon's
successful webinar series on the
subject, and Schut provides a
comprehensive explanation of the
colour and imaging issues involved.

ARRI Lights
Studio Event
AUS: ARRI Australia recently took a
range of its lighting products to the
Johnny Marr Studio in Perth.
Commenting, ARRI Australia's Sean
Dooley said: "We had about 30
attendees from the ACS WA branch
as well as some gaffers and film
school representatives.
"After about an hour of playtime
I gave a presentation on the
difference between the S30-C,
S60-C, S120-C and the brand new
S360-C SkyPanels."
It was the first time the new S360-C
was shown in Australia.

TVK Cambodia Selects
LiveU Solution

VK, The National Television
of
Kampuchea
(TVK)
in
Cambodia selected LiveU for its
daily newsgathering after using the
company's LU600 HEVC solution to
cover the recent three-day Water
Festival (Bon Om Touk).
Using LiveU units, TVK's camera
crew creatively captured the carnival
atmosphere of the festival, one of the
biggest events in Cambodia which
attracts millions of people every year.
Firework displays were held at the
river and more than 400 boats took
part in the annual boat race.

TVK said: "At previous
water festivals, we used
satellite OB vans which
restricted our mobility.
With LiveU's cellular
bonding technology, we
had no such limitations
and were free to go live
wherever we wanted,
including on boats
to cover the races
and from the top of
a building when the
King arrived. We're now planning to
use multiple LiveU units for our daily
newsgathering and event coverage."
