OpenMedia On Guard
Against Fake News
T

he latest news from media-sector
supplier ANNOVA Systems, which
was acquired last year by software
specialists SCISYS, is that its newsroom
solution OpenMedia continues to
evolve and lead the innovation stakes,
writes Jesse Karjalainen.
The two key areas of focus for the
solution currently are how to combine
online research and monitoring with
creating
better
news-production
workflows, as well as how to guard
against fake news in the story-creation
process.
The latest innovation sparking
interest was the NewsBoard solution,
a robust and innovative platform
that
provides
journalists
and
editors with an easy-to-use tool for
combining social media research
and topic planning. NewsBoard is a
versatile interface for building highly
customisable journalistic portals -
from small to large enterprise media
outlets. It was designed from scratch
on a widget-based UI, and with tons of
back-end integration already provided.

This means that journalists and editors
can follow whom and what they want
in custom widget screens, and use
drag-and-drop tools to migrate that
content easily into news stories in a
flash.
ANNOVA has also been working
on a second area of innovation in
conjunction with partner Zetta Cloud,
specialists in artificial intelligence
solutions for digital
news. They have joined
forces with the goal of
spotting and guarding
against fake news. They
have created a tool that
provides
journalists
with vital origin and

trustworthiness metrics for online
information in the newsgathering
process.
The system they developed is a first
in the industry and uses the power
of Zetta Cloud's Digital Intelligence
algorithms (recently boosted by a
Google Digital News Initiative grant), to
take each piece of online news content
that is ingested into the OpenMedia

system, such as RSS feeds or tweets,
and automatically analyses it with
their TrustServista algorithm.
The OpenMedia interface gives
journalists and news directors a realtime clear traffic-light indicator on
the trustworthiness of each news
piece when they need it. It shows
detail on the factors influencing the
total "trust score": the origin of the
information called "patient zero",
clear identification of the author,
clear context setting (who/when/
where), and sentiment (positive,
negative or neutral).
The platform will soon be
extended so that any piece of
raw text can be ingested
and analysed, including
agency wires or external
stories. English is the
only language being
supported at the moment
but support will be added
for German, French,
Arabic and Persian in the
future.

n their second joint production,
INSIGHT TV and Monster Energy
follow world-class drivers as they
head to South Africa to take on one of
the world's fastest and craziest drift
courses.
INSIGHT TV, one of the world's
largest UHD HDR broadcasters and
producer of native UHD content
covering action sports, entertainment
and lifestyle, recently announced
that its partnership with Monster
Energy would continue with a major
documentary production.
The show, which will TX in Q1, 2018
on INSIGHT TV Channels and streaming
service INSIGHT.TV, will follow several
drivers taking part in unrivalled
motorsport sensation, Gymkhana
GRiD. An extension of legendary rally
driver and social media sensation Ken
Block's Gymkhana videos, the race is
open to every driver on the planet.
The programme will show unique
behind-the-scenes footage and will
follow the back stories of several
drivers including: Luke Woodham,

Petter Solberg, Ken Block,
Adam Elder, Nikolett Szanto and
Dmitrij Sribnyj.
The race, which features mind
blowing stunts and breathtaking obstacles, often in the
dark with no headlights, was
held in Johannesburg at the
Carnival City Resort in South
Africa in November.
The show gets the low down
on the drivers, how they

prepare, what their motivation is and
what it means to become Gymkhana
GRiD champion, covering all the drama
and discipline behind this growing
motorsport.

world, particularly on social media this
event is a huge draw for petrol heads
and we're delighted to bring unseen,
behind-the-scenes footage in this noholds barred reality documentary,"
says Arun Maljaars, INSIGHT TV's
Global Content Strategy Manager.

This latest documentary
follows on from the successful
production of INSIGHT TV
and Monster Energy's recent
collaboration,
Secrets of
DarkFEST.
