Audio-Technica has
produced a new bundle
of 13 educational videos

Audio-Technica has produced a new
bundle of 13 educational videos, Basic
Audio Techniques for Video, exploring
various aspects of capturing audio
for video production and broadcast.
These clips were created in part due to
the popularity of the previous 30 A-T
tutorial videos, which have explored
miking techniques for recording drums
and percussion, wind instruments,
keyboards and much more. The
new videos, available now on the
company's YouTube channel, utilise
some of Audio-Technica's popular
audio for video and broadcast wired
and wireless microphones.

comments, "A-T has been actively
involved in the video production
community for many years. One of
the things we found consistent is the
general lack of quality information
regarding the how, what and why
of audio for video. As video content
demands continue to increase, we
felt it was time to produce a series of
instructional videos that can educate
the new video creator, but also
have enough depth to appeal to the
seasoned veteran."
Sennheiser marked its seventieth
anniversary a couple of years ago,
in 2015, and continues to maintain a
high profile in all areas of professional
audio. This year, it has attracted
considerable publicity through its

involvement with the highly successful
Pink Floyd Their Mortal Remains
exhibition at the V&A Museum in
London. The company's marque also
featured heavily at the much-hyped
BRIT Awards, recorded for broadcast
from London's O2 Arena. - the
occasion being Sennheiser's fifteenth
year supporting the event.
"This year's Brit Awards was a
packed show featuring ten artists,
six of which were fully live and four
were live vocal to track, all of which
had a high RF count," explains Colin
Pink, who headed up the audio team.
"Once again, Sennheiser supported
The Brits both with equipment and
with technical support, in the form of
Andrew Lillywhite and Jack Drury.
"Sennheiser provided all of the eight
9000 Series handheld mics for the
presenters and ten 5200 systems for
the artists, as well as another 9000
Series system for Ed Sheeran. On
top of this, they supplied a 'get out
of jail' toolbox which came in handy
for extra guitar packs and further
presenter bodypacks. We used a total
of 28 IEM systems on the show with
approximately 60 packs, also provided
by Sennheiser, their 2000 Series being
the preferred option for nine out of the
ten acts."
"The Brits is a hard and complex
show that involves coordinating radio
frequencies between many bands as
well as house equipment," says Joshua

Thomas, RF Co-Ordination for the
show. "There are added challenges,
as each act expects the highest quality
of service and equipment. This is
brought together with the support of
Sennheiser, which provided an array of
equipment and two technicians on site
to give a helping hand."
In celebration of its twenty-fifth
anniversary, DPA Microphones has
embarked on its '25-event DPA Get
Closer World Tour'. The tour will allow
audio enthusiasts to "learn from
the best Masters of Audio, as well
as network with their peers at full
day educational Master Class events
around the world. The Masters of
Audio will share their experiences,
show their best tricks and give handson demos of miking techniques for
achieving the best result in various
applications". In addition, microphone
experts from DPA's headquarters
in Denmark will be on-site to
demonstrate and provide technical
background information on the
company's various microphone types.
The tour kicked off in the US with
events in New York and Los Angeles.
"DPA has grown by leaps and bounds
in the past 25 years and we are
so excited to be able to celebrate

this momentous occasion with the
DPA Get Closer World Tour," says
Kalle Hvidt Nielsen, CEO for DPA
Microphones. "We look forward to
sharing the knowledge we have about
acoustics, miking techniques, etc. and
I encourage all participants to interact
with the speakers and microphone
experts to get as much information as
possible. We will also be providing a
look at the special edition twenty-fifth
anniversary microphone kits scheduled
for release this summer."
The latest in this series of kits have
just been released. "These kits actually
showcase DPA's entire lifetime,"
says Nielsen. "One kit contains the
first omnidirectional microphone in
our portfolio, the d:dicate 4006A,
as well as our latest innovation, the
brand new d:vice MMA-A Digital Audio
Interface. The second kit includes
our first cardioid microphone, the
d:dicate 4011A as well as the d:vice.
Both of these kits are made for sound
aficionados who value the sound
quality and the versatility of DPA
microphones."
David Edward Hughes, Emile Berliner
and Thomas Edison would no doubt
be impressed by all these advances in
microphone technology.
