demonstrate an extended range
of modules for its Cubix media
management platform. These include
the Cubix Cognitive Services module
which provides a range of features
including speech-to-text transcription,
subtitle
validation,
language
detection, image recognition and realtime content moderation. Compatible
with more than 80 languages and
dialects, the speech-to-text element
allows content to be converted quickly
and accurately into metadata which
can then be viewed as a subtitle in the
Cubix user interface. This metadata
can also be employed via any of the
advanced search engines integrated
into Cubix.

P+S Technik
LensChecker

P+S Technik's LensChecker is a
compact tool designed to evaluate
camera lenses by projection. Mounts
are available for ARRI PL, BNC-R, B4,
C-mount, Canon EF, Canon FD, Leica
M, Leica R, Nikon F and Panavision
lenses. Evaluation options include
image circle, optical performance on
and off-axis, resolution, geometric
distortion, chromatic aberration,
breathing (image size change while
focusing) back focus (fixed reticule),
focus marks and optical assembly
alignment. For zoom lenses, centre
tracking and zoom curve (back focus
while zooming) can be checked.
Panasonic's
AU-EVA1
cinema
camera has a 1.2 kg 170 x 135 x
133 mm body and contains a newly
designed 5.7K Super 35mm-sized
sensor. It includes dual native ISO
like the VariCam 35, VariCam LT
and
VariCam
Pure,
claimed to extract more
information from the
sensor without degrading
the image. The EVA1 can
perform V-Log/V-Gamut
capture to deliver HDR.
The EVA1 will also import
the colourimetry of the
VariCam line.

Photon Beard's Highlight LED studio
lights use remote phosphor technology
and are available in 90, 180, 270
and 360 watt versions, equating
to two, four, six, and eight-tube
fluorescents but putting out more light
with no colour shift over time. The
PhotonBeam 80 LED Redhead, also
based on remote phosphor technology,
is designed to provide high CRI lighting
from an LED source and is available in
daylight 5600K colour temperature.
PlayBox Technology's Neo TS Time
Delay is a 1U IP-based delay server for
single or multichannel time zone shift
and disaster-recovery applications. It
provides fully transparent delay of IP
transport streams such as DVB/ATSC
MPEG broadcast-quality compressed
video and audio.
Shotoku's
Graphica
manual
virtual-reality tracking system
based on CamMate camera
cranes. Positional data is
sourced from embedded rotary
encoders and output via SPI. Complete
calibration is needed only once and
can be achieved in 20 seconds. Seven
versions are available, varying in reach
from 1.5 to 10 metres.
SAM's Kula multi-format production
switcher is available in 1, 2 and 3 mix/
effects versions, up to 24 crosspoints
and access to up to 42 inputs. A
12G-SDI mainframe is now available
for the switcher. Kula offers up to eight
key layers per M/E, an animated clip
transition, four floating downstream
keyers and a further three key layers
on each sub mix/effect.
Shotover's K1 is a six-axis gyro
stabilised gimbal camera platform
with fibre optic video data transfer.
Features include a rain deflector,
automatic or steerable horizon,
remote controlled filter polarity
rotation, and customisable control
graphics overlay.

SAM Kula multi-format
production switcher

Sony is to offer HDR capability
on entry-level handheld XDCAM
camcorders via a Hybrid Log-Gamma
recording function for easy and quick
file-based workflows. This allows
capture, editing and viewing in HLG
without the need for colour grading.
For the FS5 camcorder, HLG will be
supported in addition to S-Log3 by a
Picture Pro-file option. HLG will also
be added to the PXW-Z150.
Tieline Technology's SmartStream
Plus adds dual redundant streaming,
adjustable automatic jitter buffering
and forward error correction to the
Report-IT Live Pro smartphone app.
It allows users to stream using the
phone's cellular LTE connection and
simultaneously stream over commonly
available Wi-Fi access points, or over a
mobile Wi-Fi device. If one connection
is lost, the other will continue to
stream IP audio to the studio. Tieline's
Merlin and Merlin Plus IP codecs both
support SmartStream PLUS dual
streaming technology.

TVLogic will show a 5.5 inch OLED
viewfinder monitor as well as a 31-inch
HDR true 4K grading monitor and a
55-inch HDR OLED. It will also exhibit
a full HD LVM-171S replacement for
the LVM-173 including picture-bypicture capability. The range currently
covers 5.5-inch up to 55-inch singlescreen monitors as well as 3.5-inch
to 9-inch multiple rack mounted
monitors. Signals accepted range from
composite video to 3G SDI on most
models, up to 12G SDI or HDMI 2 on the
4k/UHD range.

to multiple screens. It is designed for
environments that rely on repeated,
synchronised video playback for
entertainment and display. Versions
are available with 2TB up to 32TB of
storage and up to four channels of fully
uncompressed 2K or three channels of
4K video on four DisplayPort outputs.
Vision Research's Phantom cameras
offer the performance of the Phantom
V-Series in a five-inch cube. Eight
versions are available across four
performance levels and two body
styles. All incorporate 12-bit 35mm
CMOS sensors with a choice of lens
mount. At maximum resolution, the
1280 x 800 Phantom VEO 710 and 410
can record at speeds up to 7,400fps
and 4,000fps respectively, while the
four-megapixel (2560 x 1600) VEO
640 and 340 can record at speeds of
1,400fps and 800fps respectively.
The cameras are available with three
onboard RAM memory configurations
of 18, 36 or 72 gigabytes.
Zylight will demonstrate three
versions of its Pro-Zoom line of
LED ellipsoidal 200 watt lights with
different optical zoom ranges: the
Pro-Zoom Wide with a 30 to 55 degree
beam width, Pro-Zoom Medium with
an 18 to 36 degree beam, and ProZoom Narrow with an eight to 22
degree beam. Zylight also offers the
Pro-Zoom Plus Narrow, which has
a 230 watt LED source and 8 to 22
degree beam width. All Pro-Zoom
fixtures are available in tungsten
(3200K) or daylight (5600K).
