Nevion
has released the latest update to
its software-driven media platform,
Nevion Virtuoso. It includes a host of
new and enhanced features for 4K/
UHD video transport, signal processing,
movie post-production, monitoring and
transport stream (TS) adaptation.
More specifically, the latest Nevion
Virtuoso software update adds support
for JPEG 2000 encoding of UHD/4K
video; 2K resolution format for film
production; audio embedding/deembedding; frame synchronisation,
audio
processing,
and
PTP
synchronisation; monitoring of SMPTE
2022-6, JPEG 2000 and SD/HD/3G-SDI;
and AES encryption.
Virtuoso has already been adopted
by several broadcasters and service
providers for various applications,
including Finland's Digita (digital
terrestrial distribution) and Norway's
TV 2 (intra and inter-facility IP media
transport), as well as the major US
broadcaster NBC (metro IP transport).
Johnny Dolvik, Nevion's Chief
Product and Development Officer,

is making distributed production a

At InfoCommin Orlando last month,
MuxLab featured two new AV over IP
solutions in live demonstrations on the
show floor, creating a scalable method
of streaming HDMI video over an
Ethernet to enable 24/7 connectivity.
Both products are easily integrated
with MuxLab's ProDigital Network
Controller (500811), providing an easy

method of configuration and control
via any smartphone, tablet or laptop.
The HDMI over IP H.264/H.265 PoE
(500762) sends HDMI up to 100 metres
supporting resolutions up to 4K@60Hz
using Cat5e/6 cable in a point-to-point
configuration. When connected to a
local Ethernet network,

HDMI and DisplayPort video signals
at resolutions up to 4K@60Hz to
nearly unlimited destinations via an
Ethernet switch, depending on system
bandwidth. Integrators can create

potentially hundreds of displays, using
one receiver for each display.
Matrox Video has announced
the Matrox DSX LE4 IP video card,
the latest addition to the DSX line
of developer products. Expanding
Matrox's offerings to fit within every
IP workflow, DSX LE4 IP is a lowprofile, half-length PCI Express card
offering multi-channel (four-input /
four-output) HD video over 10GbE,
with the added security of ST 2022-7
redundancy.
According to Matrox Video's Senior
Director of Sales and Marketing,
Alberto Cieri, the need for affordable,
reliable IP infrastructure presented
a challenge in the transition to IP
workflows: "With the DSX LE4 IP, we're
providing a product that is IP-enabling,
dependable, and standards compliant,
therefore
broadly
interoperable.
Matrox has been working to ease
the transition from SDI to IP without
sacrificing broadcast quality, and we
believe this product accomplishes just
that for our OEMs."

At NAB 2017, AJA Video Systems
demonstrated new firmware for its
KONA IP desktop video and audio
I/O card. The new KONA IP firmware
license enables compression and
decompression of HD video in real
time to/from JPEG 2000 encoded
within an MPEG 2 transport stream.
Featuring support for TR-01, the
update ensures interoperability with
other JPEG 2000 systems and devices
across the network. It supports three
configurations: up to two simultaneous
JPEG 2000 outputs, up to two
simultaneous JPEG 2000 inputs, or
a simultaneous JPEG 2000 input and
output to a system running KONA IP.
