ables, connector and links come
under the category of devices
that work efficiently until the fateful
day when a microscopic fracture
suddenly leaves you staring at a blank
video display or listening to perfectly
reproduced silence. One solution is
obvious: carry spares. Another is to
keep an eye on the whole range of
devices designed to keep the various
elements of the production chain
operating as a single system. No
shortage of new products here:

AJA FiDO SDI/
optical fibre converters

AJA's FiDO SDI/optical fibre
converters allows the transport of 3G/
HD/SD-SDI over distances up to 10km
when using standard single-mode
fibre. LC, ST, or SC connectors can
be used, depending on the converter
model. Multi-mode and CWDM SFP
options are available for LC models.
Argosy's
4K/UHD
MUDIGSA
connectors and its MUDIGSA video
patch system (panel, U-link and patch
cord)
incorporate
re-engineered
MUDIGSA
connectors.
MUDIGSA
video patch panels are now capable
of carrying UHD signals and the
company's range of jackfields can
transmit up to 12 GHz when used with
appropriately rated cables and BNC
connectors.

Video & Ethernet - Artel DigiLink DL4360x

Artel's DigiLink DL4360x combines
modular-based transport functions
with internal routing capabilities
for video and Ethernet traffic.
DigiLink features multi-purpose
modules, external optics in
all standard wavelengths, and
front panel accessible status
LEDs and video monitor ports for
each module.
Belden's 2183P and 2183R shielded
cables are designed specifically for
optimal performance in 4K HDBaseT
transmission. The cables deliver 4K
content over 100 metres. Belden's
4K UHD Media Cable is claimed
to be up to 25% smaller than
other HDBaseT cable such as CAT
7A, allowing for better use of
rack space, conduit fill capacity
and cable trays.
Bluebell Opticom's Edgware
SMPTE 2022-7 IP encapsulator and
decapsulator transport SD/HD/3G-SDI
signals over IP networks using SMPTE
2022-6 or SMPTE 2022-7. It comes with
a simple PC interface through which
users can configure network transport
and monitor the link. The system plugs
directly into a 10G Ethernet network,
no ancillary equipment being required.
Black Box is working with FilmLight
to offer six different kits incorporating
Black Box's digital KVM extender. The
kits are intended to satisfy the highbandwidth demands of colour-grading
applications. Black Box created these
six kits to support the Baselight ONE
colour-grading and finishing system,
especially when it is used with
FilmLight's Blackboard 2 and Slate
control surfaces. To support different
bandwidth needs, the kits come in
either copper or fibre versions.

Canford have successfully launched
their own in-house fibre termination
service which offers a short lead
time service for the termination of
Neutrik opticalCON and LEMO SMPTE
connectors.

Based
at

HQ
in
Washington, Tyne and Wear, the fibre
termination service comes as the
broadcast marketplace moves further
towards Ultra High Definition (UHD)
content acquisition and transmission
techniques, where traditional copper
cables are unable to handle the high
data levels generated by new highresolution equipment.
Canford have made a significant
investment in staff training and
industry leading test and certification
equipment. This attention
to
detail
guarantees
alignment and ensures
terminations meet both
IEC and Telcordia industry
standards.
Fischer
Connectors
has
expanded its high-density product
range, the Fischer MiniMax series,
with an ultra-miniature connector,
the MiniMax 06. The connector can
accommodate up to 12 power and

signal contacts in a 10 mm
diameter. It also has two signal
and two high-power 1.3 mm
contacts for applications needing
10 amperes or more power,
doubling the standard 5 amperes
current rating of the existing MiniMax
product line.
Joseph Electronics' Shadow Box
provides an audio/video interface
at any camera position using an
existing SMPTE hybrid camera cable.
Crews need only add short SMPTE
jumper cables on each of the two
units to facilitate camera and truck
connections. The Shadow Box derives
mains power from the SMPTE hybrid
cable to power itself and passes along
the rest to drive the SMPTE-equipped
HD camera. It can also be fitted with
a battery as a failsafe measure in
case of power failure, or to provide
independent operation without a
camera.
Lemo's Anglissimo plug is an eight
in-one plug that can be adapted by
the user. The elbow connector design
allows adjustment to prevent cable
snagging. Each connector can be
oriented during its assembly then
remains securely positioned.
MuxLab has introduced three new
products offering IP connectivity:
