In Broadcast - May 2017 - 52
52 www.inbroadcast.com | Vol: 7 - Issue 5 | May 2017 InStudio Axon Focuses On 4K/UHD and IP A xon Digital Design will be attending Broadcast Asia 2017 with a raft of new products that are on show for the first time in the region. Recognising the importance of UHD technology, Axon anticipates a positive response to its new SynView modular multiviewer. Capable of handling both 4K and any IP video formats, SynView is ready for the future and can support whatever video transport mechanism the industry chooses to adopt. This new multiviewer is also ideal for a wide range of applications and from small to extremely large monitoring walls. Two basic models are available, each in two versions (SDI I/O or Ethernet I/O). These versions can be mixed and matched to build a hybrid multiviewer with up to hundreds of inputs and eight 1080p heads (on SDI) or two heads with UHD/4K resolution. Multiple connector panels will be available to allow for different I/O configurations. Compared to earlier systems, SynView's feature-set has been significantly enhanced, with double the amount of inputs, eight times the amount of outputs (heads), UHD/4K/60Hz output resolution on display outputs and a six-fold increase of processing power. The system can now scale, position, de-embed, overlay and process eight video channels. Axon will also focus on the challenges broadcasters face as they transition from SDI to IP. As the local representative for Utah Scientific, it will highlight how both companies are developing products for 4K and IP by showing routers that deliver SDI (including UHD) and S2022 content. Axon will also show its new Synapse NIO440, an eight-channel bi-directional Ethernet/SDI bridge from 3G/HD-SDI to uncompressed Ethernet video transport and decentralised routing. NIIO440 can be used as a point to point video/audio/ data connection (using standard fibreoptic cables or SMPTE camera cables, avoiding CWDM infrastructures and cost) and it provides point to multipoint routing and distribution using IT switches. Axon product lines Orban Releases NeuStar Air2 Codec Pre-Conditioner O rban, a leader in world-class audio processing, has announced the availability of the Orban NeuStar Air2 codec pre-conditioner. Designed to significantly improve the quality of lossy, compressed audio, the NeuStar Air2 codec pre-conditioner provides perceived audio quality of twice the effective bit-rate. The NeuStar Air2 was specifically designed to improve the sonic performance of low bit-rate internet streams, HD Radio multicasts, DAB/ DAB+ and DRM channels. Orban's proprietary codec preprocessing engine has been specially tuned for operation at 24kbps, 32kbps, 48kbps, 64kbps and 128kbps rates with any codec including HE-AAC v2. The NeuStar Air2 made its official debut at NAB 2017 and is available for immediate shipment. In all Orban introduced 12 new processing products ranging from a new top-of- the-line Optimod-FM processor to a suite of openGear cards for stereo and 5.1 surround TV. New in the Optimod-FM line are: * 5500i - now with a full-featured RDS / RBDS generator with PS scrolling; * 5700i - now with full-featured RDS / RBDS generator with PS scrolling, as well as FM and HD outputs; * 8600Si - now with FM and HD outputs; * 8700i - includes a processed lowlatency headphone output, Dante AoIP (AES 67) and Orban's newly patented Xponential Loudness algorithm. For the TV, Mastering and Production industries is the iMix 5.1 Headphone Monitor, a monitor that provides accurate rendering of 5.1 images in the user's headphones without the use of artificial ambience or special encoding. Of interest to OB trucks and live TV productions is Orban's demonstration of a 3D intercom that clearly isolates individual intercom channels to spatial points in headphones. Orban is also introducing six cards for the openGear TV platform including: OTV-22 - dual, discrete stereo instances of Orban's exclusive OPTIMOD TV loudness control with industry-standard, worldwide compliant ITU-BS.1770 loudness measurement; OTV-M2S - four instances of Orban's newest Mono2Stereo algorithm that Due to its highly flexible architecture, this ground-breaking product can help customers move to an IP based infrastructure with compatibility of all possible current and future standards. At present, the card is compatible with both AVB/TSN and S2022. Future standards such as VSF-TR03/TR04 - and of course SMPTE-2059 - are also within its capability and compatibility will be achieved by future software upgrades. Axon's Broadcast Asia line-up includes its ever popular Cerebrum control and monitoring software. The latest version of Cerebrum supports products from Everzt, AJA, AXIA, Allen & Heath, Panasonic, Ross, Yamaha, Rohde & Schwartz, Quintech and Blackmagic. Axon's final new product at Broadcast Asia is AZilPix Studio. One - a virtual camera system that is designed for live video capture and streaming. The system employs cost-effective, ultra-high resolution cameras with wide angle and/or fish eye lenses, thus allowing content producers to capture every aspect of a live event from multiple angles. makes artefact-free stereo audio from mono feeds; OTV-5.1 Live - a suite of ultra lowlatency 5.1 surround processors for live and broadcast audio including the 257 Decoder, 752 Encoder and iMix 5.1 Headphone monitor; OTV-510 - Low-latency 5.1 Surround Loudness Monitor and Controller for Production and Transmission using the industry-standard, worldwide compliant ITU-BS.1770 loudness measurement and Orban's exclusive OPTIMOD TV loudness control; OTV-MUX HD - a high-quality program audio embedder for up to eight AES audio channels into a 3G/ HD/SD SDI signal, providing sample rate conversion, summing with gain of +10dB, audio delay up to one second and channel invert; OTV-DMX HD - a high-quality programme audio de-embedder for up to eight AES channels from a 3G/HD/ SD SDI signal.
